2021 Nuevo ES overcab bed weight capacity

Hi all. I've just read the manual but no indication of the overcab bed weight capacity. 

Any ideas?

Whilst I’ve slept up there (once, alone, to try it out) and whilst my2 grandchildren (9 & 11) love sleeping in “the Nest”, I don’t know the limit. But it’s designed to accommodate 2 adults, so I think its carrying capacity is sufficient for carrying plenty of non-human stuff.

We carry up there,  amongst other things, a Cadac BBQ, 2 Duvalays, 2 heavy e-bike batteries, thermal screen covers, the ladder, our coats, anoraks etc, bed cushions, pillows, ….. and so on. It’s a wonderful storage area.

I place the items carefully so as to optimise weight distribution. We have AlKo air-rides fitted, such that the van doesn’t sway in spite of the elevated CoG.

As Cymro has said, the over-cab bed should be designed to take the weight of two adults.  However, when the van is being driven, the following advice in the manual should be followed:

Loading - How To Apportion Weight
Correct weight distribution is a major factor in making your motorhome a balanced and pleasant vehicle to drive without compromising road-holding. Care should therefore be taken to ensure that heavy items are well spaced and are in as low a position as possible, for example, low cupboards and bed boxes.

In accordance with the diagram shown in the manual, only light items should be stored above the cab and in all the upper lockers.

To be fair to Melcragg, the question posed asked about overcall bed weight capacity - not about that capacity whilst the van is being driven. I merely mentioned what I normally carry to confirm that the construction will happily bear the mass of the stuff I carry; indeed, it will bear the mass of two (average-weight) adults.

Whether such loads should be/ could be carried up there whilst the van is in motion is a related but different issue. 

On that, I am somewhat alarmed to read from colleagues that I am probably overdoing things with my normal touring load up in the Nest. The AirRides, and careful loading (including sub-floor tanks) probably help reduce the increased sway which could be expected. Whilst I'm now a bit concerned, the van has handled well since I bought it new in 2015, as did its predecessor Clubman which I probably loaded similarly. 

Time for head-scratching.....  Ah! I know: Madame's extra pillow must go....

I used to sleep soundly in the overhead bed in our 09 Nuevo EKES, I’m no light weight at 16 stone +. Don’t know if newer vans are of lighter construction .

You are right Cymro, the OP may only have been asking what the maximum combined weight of two adults using the over-cab bed should be.  At a guess I would say 160 kg i.e. 80 kg each.  As for weight distribution when driving, we only store heavy items on the floor and my wallet isn't one of them!  For example, when driving we don't store any jars, cans, bottles, fresh fruit & vegetables in the lockers above the kitchen.  They go in a couple of low crates behind the cab seats (I've removed the plastic cowlings) which also keep the weight forward which is helpful on a Nuevo.  Prior to this we used a couple of carrier bags in the n/s bench seat locker.   We only carry clothes in the lockers above the seats and that reduces during a trip as our laundry builds up.  We don't keep any books or maps there.  Our 2 Duvalays fit in the o/s bench seat locker between the battery and the EC700.
