Van modification to the extreme.
We are now spending more time in hetty and have been thinking of getting a new van. We don't want anything much bigger but would like a fixed bed.
This is something autosleeper does not do to our tastes, we have looked a t a kingham but the bedroom and bathroom are too compromised.
We have had a look at a x650 and while not as well finished seems like a good plan.

Would appreciate some feedback.

Looks like a drop down bed? Otherwise I can't see the fixed bed you want. As with most continental vans, no oven and I'm guessing just a 2 ring hob.

Yes a drop down bed, the uk version comes with a Thetford oven. I like the Idea of a van the same width as our Warwick just 300mm longer.

The X650 looks like an XL chassis. You said you don't like the Kingham, did you look at the Fairford? (Plus) You can leave the rear garage section made up as a bed.

Other option worth a look would be some of the Adria pvc models, fixed rear beds either transverse double or longitudinal single come double with garage under and front lounge.. but only for sitting not lounging or lying to watch telly as you can in the Warwick

Re: Van modification to the extreme.
I think you are absolutely right that width is a more important dimension than length, certainly for U.K. use. We always say we can go anywhere that an Amazon van can go, and we rarely have any parking issues.
Beyond that, layout is a very personal matter. If you want a few comments on the 650, I would say that the settees don’t look very comfortable (upright backs, lack of armrests, flattish squabs), I’m not sure the shower/loo looks any bigger than a Kingham, and the garage seems to take up a lot of space. Depends what you want really.
We had some concerns about the width of the Kingham bed (we sleep in a super king at home) and the size of the ablutions, but actually it all works very well for us. One of the bits I really like is that we can move around without squeezing past each other or between walls and galley units etc. We have a full height curtain in front of the bed which gives useful privacy and a cosy bedroom with plenty of room to dress. The bed is not an issue unless we are not speaking. I have done a minor mod to the settee as well so that it can be used as a comfortable single bed occasionally, which has been really useful recently with my wife recovering from a broken hip. The only thing I would really change in the Kingham layout would be the width of the bed, but that is the price of a narrow van that slips down lanes easily and is no stress to drive. It probably helps that we used to live on a narrow boat.

We have been looking at the fairford plus as we do like the look of our Warwick duo. It could work for us . Why does the driver's seat not rotate and no storage in the bathroom are concerns. Otherwise pretty close. Note to autosleeper we would like a longer Warwick duo with a drop down bed.
And opening side windows at the rear please.

Re: Van modification to the extreme.
You can get opening windows for the rear doors, in fact there were a pair for sale on ebay quite recently. The longer Warwick Duo is of course the Warwick XL but no drop down bed.
New rear opening windows still listed on ebay...

Van change
I liked the Dreamer D62. It has an oven and a larger toilet/shower and a fixed bed and a full height fridge!
It's made in the EU
Just a thought

Much like the kingham. We are off to see a challenger x250 this week. They are £15000 cheaper for a lhd version that we could import. Will let you know how it goes.

Re: Van modification to the extreme.
We love our Kingham and wouldn’t change. We did look at lots of other European brands but my husband does like to spend time in the bedroom watching TV / Sport and you can’t really sit up in bed comfortably in lots of them whereas it’s super comfy in the Kingham.
I’d also be reluctant to have any van where you had to make the bed - not just for the faff but for the quality o the mattress. Both of us has hip issues in our Symbol as even with a topper, the bed just wasn’t as comfy as a proper mattress.
