Autosleeper Broadway Leisure Battery
Hi All,
A quick question I have placed a brand new tested leisure battery onto my 2016 Broadway and after one week with no use the voltage has dropped to 4.5v anyone tell me is this normal or what may be draining the power? Will connect.mains up for 24hrs before we go away and see what happens but seems weird it's dropped so fast. Have used a battery tester on the battery and all seems good.

If by “battery tester” you mean one of these

or a multimeter then they will be giving you reasonably accurate readings.
If you are reading the voltage from your Sargent control panel then those numbers are probably totally inaccurate.

In my experience, voltage readings on a Sargent system may not be highly accurate, but there's no way that they are that inaccurate! Current readings are a different matter - often wildly out.
No - it's not normal. Yes - use an independent means of testing to see whether the voltage on the battery itself (measured at the battery terminal) is the same (roughly) as shown on the display panel. Possible causes and actions will be dependent on that.

Re: Autosleeper Broadway Leisure Battery
Something not adding up here for me.....
If the LB voltage was 4.5v (how was that measured, multimeter over the terminals??) then running the engine for 10 mins won't have fixed it. It may have, temporarily, raised the voltage due to the alternator output voltage being seen, but no possible way a flattened to 4.5v battery is going to be charged in 10mins
Best way is, disconnect the LB from the van, it can stay in place just remove both terminals.
Wait 1 hr or so, then measure the voltage with a multimeter. Record it.
If not 12.7 or so, connect it to a main powered charger and charge it for 24 hrs.
After that time, switch off the charger then wait 1 hr or so. Then measure the voltage, record it
It, if the battery is healthy, now read 12.7 to 12.8 volts, the fully charged lead acid battery voltage.
Let us know what the result of this is please

Re: Autosleeper Broadway Leisure Battery
Our Sargent panel frequently tells me our starter battery is at 3.6V even though I know it isn’t. It even does it with the engine running too. The only accurate way to test a battery voltage is with a decent multimeter (or voltmeter) wired across the terminals

broadway battery
Hi
Not sure if this will be any help but I had exactly the same problem earlier this year. I got an alert to say LB was low so I used a multi meter to test it and sure enough it was down to 10v so Charged it to 13.8v Couple of days later same thing in fact At 6pm it read 13.2 volts at 9pm I got an alarm and sure enough it was around 4.8 volts I could not believe it, I removed the battery from the motorhome and charged in house to 13.8v and I tested it every day for a week it stayed at 13.8v so I put it back in the van , lo and behold a day later alarm triggered! So I took it again and charged it to 13.8 v via multi meter . So I had a battery that showed 13.8v but it would not power a test light! I purchased a new battery and have not had a problem since. Somehow the old battery was showing 13.8v but there must have been dead cells in it that is the only reason I can think of. I brought the motorhome second hand and it was only a year old so the battery was "goosed" The battery involved was a lipo and I have replaced it with a higher amp lipo and so far so good (around 5 months now) . I know you said you have fitted a NEW battery but I thought I would just give you my experience
