Overhead locker door
Good afternoon,
One of my locker doors has started to come apart at the glue line, this is where the lower lighter coloured section containing the handle meets the wood effect section above. Prizing it gently open I can see that what ever was originally used to stick these two pieces together is very thick and rubbery. I am planning to strip, prep and re fix but I was wondering if anyone
knows what glue I should use, or has anyone any experience of repairing such an issue ?
Any advice would much appreciated.

I had the same problem but rather than use glue, I screwed a thin metal plate to the back connecting both door parts to ensure they would never come apart again.

I may be over thinking it … just with the design of the door and the spring loaded hinges there must be a fair amount of stress on the joint. Your idea of a metal plate support makes sense, I will look at incorporating this when I carry out the repair.
Thank you for your support Geoff.

Re: Overhead locker door
I used a a good guilty wood glue I removed the doors glued and clamped them together left overnight and refitted , it looked to me like their is no adhesive in the joint just a pressed fit . I did consider some type of screw together fit but decided It would better to glue and use screw fit for a plan b option if needed . , no sign of failure yet 12 month on , very simple job ,the clamps just held it together until the glue set not forcing pressure on joints after the first failure the other joints soon followed , wood glue easily cleaned off with a damp cloth BazzSuppersready wrote:Molly3 wrote:MINE HAS the same problen bonded them back together and re fitted been OK since .
