That's a good idea although we are more worried about the wind catching the door and pulling it open.

I like that.  I might try it.  Currently I tie a cord from the internal hab door handle to the front cap door handle.  The only time we had trouble with the wind catching the hab door and pulling it open was during a very fierce storm whilst on our driveway when a prolonged power-cut forced us to cook and eat in the van.

Stopping the door from slamming Empty Habitation Door

Post by Gazza1750 Fri Oct 18, 2024 6:20 pm

I got fed up with the retainer on my door, I found the door didn't open wide enough and was susceptible to damage from gusty wind.

I had a set of fishing rod rests which used to fix to the bonnet and roof of my car to carry the rods in transit. I don't use them now, so I put the sucker/clamps to better use and did away with the door restrainer altogether.

Now the door opens much wider, is more secure and I also have enough room for ventilating the fridge.

Door fully open....(no restraining bar)
