nuevo power
hi, sorry I new to motorhome. I thought my leisure battery was charged as I had plugged into mains at home before travelling. However, first night away we had 2 interior lights on for less than an hour and then lost the battery power. this can't be right. is the battery faulty or am I doing something wrong when charging? I also thought the leisure battery should charge with the engine running. Perhaps I am not using the control panel correct when charging? any advice on battery and or charging would be great. thanks

Re: nuevo power
There were several different electrical system installed when your van was made so advice has to be generic.
The fact you had lights for a while means that the battery is connected to the habitation circuitry. Your battery may have failed and is not able to accept or hold a charge. The 2230v supply to the charger may have been disabled by a circuit breaker or a switch on the charger. There may be a problem with the relay that facilitates charge to the battery when the engine is running. First thing is to have battery tested.

Re: nuevo power
The control panel on the Nuevo of that age requires you to direct the charge to the battery you want charged. The left hand rocker on the panel has VEH or HAB printed on. You must switch it to HAB to charge your leisure battery.

Re: nuevo power
Have you considered what type of battery you are going to fit ,check out lead carbon far superior to lead acid ,

Lead carbon is AGM, there are charging issues with those for some systems. I'd go for simplicity, price and lead acid

Re: nuevo power
Can you explain what the issues are.? The alpha batterys explorer plus lead carbon has a charge rate of 14.2 to 14.4 volts and 1500 cycles , .that is within sargent 328 charge rate ..IanH14.2 wrote:Lead carbon is AGM, there are charging issues with those for some systems.
