The left hand side of the habitation control unit has fallen back about 1cm from the front plate.  My wife was gently pressing the power on when this happened.  All of the hab controls are working but I want to try and repair it.
Is it fair to assume that I can remove the protective caps off the screws which secure the plate - and is it then a case of clicking the hab unit into some sort of frame?
I am going to turn off all of the power before I try this - but is there anything else I need to be aware of?  Has anyone done this before?

Thanks in advance....

Carefully ease off the two screw caps, remove the screws and ease the panel forwards to see what is going on, the cable loom is fairly long behind this panel. You might want a second person to hold the unit in place when you undo the screws.  It is not rocket science, go for it.

You are lucky! Your control panel is not glued into the fascia plate too well, and the glue has failed On my van it was very securely glued in, which caused a lot of problems when the CP had to be replaced under warranty.

I am not convinced that the two screws (behind the grey screw covers) will be all that is holding that main fascia panel in place. AS have a habit of using glue inappropriately, and this may (or hopefully may not) prove the case here. Just two screws would not normally support a flexible plastic panel of that size without it "hanging off." That panel could well be glued to the paper faced "wooden" panel behind. In my case the whole "wooden" panel had to be removed, and that may be the better option for you if your black plastic fascia panel is indeed glued to that board. Either way you will eventually be able to access the back of the panel. The control panel was as said probably glued in to the black plastic fascia panel but this glue has partially failed. You don't want it glued in again!

When our dealer replaced the CP under warranty I got them to bolt the CP back in place in using a couple of hidden plastic cleats to clamp the CP to the fascia panel and two small machine screws each side. The only trouble was that they did not remove the remnants of glue remaining, so the panel still glued itself back in place, as I found the day before yesterday when I came to finally remove the CP as the almost final stage in making my van a "Sargent Free Zone."

If you find that parts are glued then three points spring to mind:

1. Steady firm pressure over a matter of perhaps some minutes will gradually stretch, weaken and ultimately release the glue bond. Excessive force will break something, so just be patient and apply a controlled finger or thumb force to break the glue line gently, using a credit card or similar to spread the load if pressing on a vulnerable surface. Some would advise gentle heat from a hair dryer or the like, but I have never had the bottle to try that!

2.  Don't try the above on any glue line with the paper faced "wood" effect boarding. You will peel the surface layer off. If the main plastic fascia panel is glued to the "wood" then don't try and break the glue line. Take that whole panel out.

3.  If you follow my suggestion to secure the CP with bolts then try and remove all the old glue from around the CP and the panel to which it was bonded. White spirit may work, or alternatively isolate the glue with a layer of Sellotape or similar.

Best of luck!

Thank you for this advice.  I will make sure there is someone else around over the next days to help hold it for me.   Let's see how it goes....

Thanks for the helpful comments.  I've had some time today to look into this.  I undid the two main screws and it feels like the plate isn't glued.  However, it feels like there is something next to the Truma screen which is still "locked" and preventing me from opening up the front plate.  Removing the cover it looks like some sort of toggle but whichever way I try and move it, it doesn't seen to help release it.
Any suggestions, please?
