ASOC Membership Renewal??
First thing we did when we purchased our latest Broadway was to rejoin ASOC, found the application form online filled it out posted 1st class & “it went to the factory at Willersey” firstly is this correct?
It’s a bit strange that a month later we’ve heard absolutely nothing, checking to see if the cheque has been cashed we’ve discovered it hasn’t so not even sure if it got there or not…
Paying by cheque this day & age seems an antiquated & slow way to subscribe to something. I don’t even have a cheque book as probably gave mine up ten or more years ago, thankfully MrsCC has her rarely ever used cheque book otherwise not sure what we’d do.
What do others suggest we do, try again?

Re: ASOC Membership Renewal??
I think most ASOC members will agree that the club is run in very antiquated ways, bookings for rallies are still made by post and by cheque in majority of cases. There are club committee members on here , of course delay at this time of year is to be expected as they may well be away on tour. I'll send you a PM.

Re: ASOC Membership Renewal??
I believe you can pay membership by BACS, according to the "join us" page on the website of ASOC.
The rallies/events are run by members for members and it is the marshals choice how you pay for the event they are running.
You have to remember the committee running ASOC are all volunteers. perhaps the way forward is those members who think it is run in an antiquated way is to step forward and join the committee.

Re: ASOC Membership Renewal??
Once a member there is never a need to go to the 'join us' page of the website, so I had no idea that the application form could be downloaded or 'filled in on line' so my apologies for the 'antiquated ' comment. The club is obviously moving with the times albeit slowly. I am aware that the magazine can be delivered digitally if required as well. As CC commented cheque books are not something everyone has these days so booking rallies does need a more up to date method of payment and booking.

Re: ASOC Membership Renewal??
While BACS does appear to be an option on the website (missed by most people I’d say, ourselves included) it seems you have to submit your application then wait for the BACS information to be sent to you, why on earth isn’t this information provided on the application form?

Re: ASOC Membership Renewal??
I believe, if you go for the BACS option, it goes to an email address, have a look at the "join us" page where the response is quicker.
it does not go to the factory.
Would you put your BACS details on a public website for anyone to see?

Re: ASOC Membership Renewal??
Well our ASOC membership arrived a short while ago, had to pay £1.50 to the postie as the postage was underpaid & insufficient!
Just a heads up to whoever’s doing the post at ASOC, had no idea it was from ASOC so could have quite easily rejected it, as they took the money from me yesterday & rearranged to deliver the letter today.

Why are you posting this here, the person you are directing it at may not be on this forum.
A contact list is available on the ASOC website

I won’t be contacting ASOC but by posting here one way or another I’m sure it will get back to them…
Yes I did further comment in my earlier post, then thought better of it & edited my post as I don’t want to enter into petty squabble's.

Welcome back to ASOC CC, you will have noted that I am no longer an Officer of the club. We were running an ASOC rally in Germany for the duration of this thread so I missed it completely and only found it on a very dull and wet day overlooking the North Sea whilst waiting for the rain to stop.
I've made the ASOC Chairman aware of the thread; CC if you wish to raise this or any other ASOC matter with her you can email chairman@asoc.uk.com
Some people do still shy away from electronic banking and email but, as previously mentioned, the option to use both is given on the application form. Correspondence by post will always be delayed as the factory only forward ASOC mail every couple of weeks and then the Membership Secretary is often away from home for extended periods so email is the quickest form of communication.
Unless I am seeing things, there is an ASOC logo that includes the full name of the club on the envelope pictured but agree it should have had the correct postage on it.

Re: ASOC Membership Renewal??
Sorry Peter I missed this & have only just seen it… Yes the envelope is marked ASOC however I never saw that until after I’d paid the £1.50 all I had was a Royal Mail calling card stating I had mail & had to pay a fee & rearrange to get it re delivered.
Anyway it’s all water under the bridge as they say.
