Tow bar Empty Re: Tow bar

Hi, I have fitted several to Boxers/Ducato's over the years, heavy but not difficult, just a nut and bolt job. The more difficult job is the wiring, needs to be the right kit for the vehicle. Worst part is finding a route for the wiring to the vehicle battery or the EM40 fuse box either inside or underneath. The rest of the wiring harness is connected to the rear lights. There is a kit to connect to the CAN Bus but you really have to know what you are doing for that one. Always used P F Jones for the towbars and electrics, one of my friends has just removed a Westfalia swan neck with electrics from his van and has it for sale if you are down this way!! Hope this helps.

Shame you’re not closer, we’re going to have the towbar removed on our Kemerton XL. We have no need for it and it eats into our payload.

Tim

Tow bar Empty Re: Tow bar

On our van the fitters were nervous about the gas pipe routing at the back of the vehicle where the tow bar mounts. I ended up collecting the tow bar, bolting it in place to allow sighting of possible problems. As it was the gas pipe was easily manipulated to clear the tow bar brackets and the installation completed back at the tow bar fitting center. Because of it eating into the payload, we also updated the GVW to allow for the tow bar, bike rack and bikes.

Sorry, not an answer to your question but I’m interested in this wire to the lights? I’m assuming it’s for a rear lighting board? Has it got a plug?
I’ve got a rear door mounted rack, it doesn’t obscure the lights so haven’t bothered with a light board.

My fault, I wasn’t very clear but what I meant was…
At the other end of the wire from the cluster, have they fitted a socket that you plug a light board into?

That’s something I’ve not seen before, are the lights part of the bike rack or an aftermarket fitment?
Any idea of the bike rack make? The only two I’ve heard of are from Fiamma and Thule and neither had inbuilt lights that I’m aware of.
Any chance of a picture as I’m very curious about your installation  up!
