Zenec Digital display unit
Hello all
Our 2022 Nuevo is equipped with a Zenec digital display unit.
I has worked fine until a couple of weeks ago when after switching off at the dash radio on/off it would only go to what I assume to be screensaver mode with the text ZENEC TOUCH ANOTHER WORLD when switching on again at the dash.
The options along the lower edge are illuminated but touching them produces no response.
We contacted the manufacturers who directed us to the UK agents. They were unable to help and directed us to contact the dealer. To be fair I have had a discussion with them today and advised to send them details so that their electronics expert can have a look.
However there seems to be a wealth of knowledge on the forum and any input would be welcome.

I had something very similar recently with ours - did you get a remote with yours? If so try that - I can’t remember what I did but think I changed the inputs and on/off and it just suddenly started up again. Been fine since.
Might be totally unrelated but might be worth a go. I had 2 remotes with our van.

Hello,
After a long delay Autosleepers finally agreed to supply a new unit. We travelled to the dealers at the end of October to have it fitted. This is our third unit. Whilst waiting had a chat with the sales staff at the dealers and all thought the units were problematic. Apparently Auto trail now fit a different make; possibly Pioneer.
If I have any further problems I will consider fitting a Pioneer.

Thanks. Ours had worked perfectly but simply packed up overnight a few weeks ago - also a 2022 van. Will be on the phone tomorrow as I see it’s a 3yr manufacturers warranty.

Hello,
Good luck. Our habitation door lock has broken on a new door fitted by Autosleepers in May last, and we can't open it from the outside. 24 week wait for the parts.

I fitted a Pioneer head unit on a previous motorhome and regretted it. I wish I had fitted a unit with Garmin satnav, like a Kenwood.
If you decide to make the change, best do some thorough investigation. Just because Autotrail are fitting Pioneer doesn't mean its the best - it only means that Pioneer offered Autotrail the best deal.

Re: Zenec Digital display unit
I have a Pioneer (fitted by previous owner) . If you consider Pioneer then make sure it works when ignition is off. Mine only works with ignition on , so it's useless when parked up on site. The instructions actually state it cannot be fitted unless your ignition switch has an acc (accessory) position. Boxers of similar age to mine do not have acc position, I don't know if that is still the case or when they changed.

Re: Zenec Digital display unit
Hello all,
Thanks for the information. As well as SATNAV we use the radio; does the Garmin unit have that facility.
The annoying thing is that the ZENEC is fine when working but but gives up the ghost for no apparent reason. The first unit refused to work after the dash switch was turned off. The second unit suddenly locked up, stopped broadcasting the radio programme, and we could not do anything to get the radio back on again, but the SATNAV through the Apple phone continued to work. One day my wife was pressing buttons and the radio suddenly started working. A couple of days later we stopped to talk to someone and turned the unit off with the dash switch. Turning on again at the dash switch it would do nothing and we are now on our third unit. Can anyone recommend a unit with the reliability of an Apple I pad.
I take your point Paul about Pioneer offering the best price. However we had a Pioneer radio CD player in our Coachman tourer which worked fine for 10 years.

Re: Zenec Digital display unit
Peter - all head units will come with a tuner that gives you DAB+. Some will also provide a DVD facility, although most these days don't, but provide a USB connection for you to play your own music (which is what we do).
A lot of this is taste and flavour; the facilities you want, the screensize you want, and the amount you are prepared to pay. It also depends on whether the Zenec is fitted into a single din or double din space. I don't know the Zenec, and I presume your Nuevo is on a Peugeot base, which makes it easier to change (you don't want to start interfering with the Fiat UConnect system).
All I can say is what I would do. If I had exhausted trying to make the Zenec work I would look at a head unit with a built-in satnav, and in my opinion Garmin sets the standard. You can get them cheaper without a built-in satnav, and they use Android Auto or Apple Carplay, but they do have limitations and you are reliant on the connection to your smartphone.
The one I would fit would be the Kenwood DNX7190DABS which has a 7" screen and built-in satnav. It will be around £700 (its double din). You can pay more for a Kenwood 10" screen, but I don't think it is necessary.
Your choice.

Re: Zenec Digital display unit
IMHO the best 1 din head unit with integrated satnav are the Alpine range.
In this case I would fit the Alpine iNE-F904D 9" Halo unit, still about £700. You do get a bigger screen!

Hello All,
Thanks for the information. Been off the air for a while; sorry for the delay in responding.
Weather been a bit too inclement lately to think about even a short trip. Will carry on with Zenec 3 until it gives up the ghost.
Seasons greetings.
