Calor 3.9kg Empty Calor 3.9kg

Post by Dbvwt Sat Jul 29, 2023 2:18 pm

I’m clearing out my garage and have come across this. I’ve seen a lot of discussion recently about them but as I have an underslung tank, I haven’t taken a lot of notice.
Basically, is there any value in it or is it going to the dump with all the other stuff on Monday?

There's certainly a value. Someone will buy it and get it exchanged for a 6kg. Stick it on Facebook Marketplace,  others are advertised between £10 and £20 for empty ones.

Thanks Paul, I have actually just put it on eBay for £20. I don’t really use Facebook and my one and only experience recently selling a Kayak was far from enjoyable!
So can you just swap an empty 3.9kg for an empty 6kg (I’m guessing not) or does it have to be a full 6kg?

Cheers for the info Paul.
Ok it’s £15 if anyone wants to pick it up from Aylesbury, price going down if nobody wants it smile!

Good luck.

I have two empty 3.9 Propane and my Calor supplier would neither swap sizes or refund the deposit without proof of purchase. Who on earth keeps receipts for bottled gas is beyond me.

By coincidence I have literally just come off the phone from a local place that has sold Calor bottles for years.
I can take my 3.9kg in and they will happily swap it for a full 6kg for the total price of £29.40.  3 in stock and more being delivered on Thursday. She knew very well off the supply issues but indicated the problems were being sorted.
I assume that’s not a bad deal, will report back tomorrow with the outcome.

My last 13kg was only about £30! But it was over a year ago, possibly 2 years.

It seems the "rules" vary from county to county then, maybe making them up as they go along.  shrugg

When they told me i'd have to supply proof of purchase I thought they were having a laugh.

The situation does seem very hit and miss.
I swapped my old empty 3.9kg for a full 6kg today, they did indeed have 3 in stock and more being delivered tomorrow shrugg

Perhaps end this thread and direct any replies to the other one running, I started this one specifically about my 3.9kg which is no longer relevant.
Thanks for the replies up!

Now if only they'd change their mind on the 6kg Lite and reintroduce that . . .
