Cleaning silver screen advice please
Our TaylorMade long length windscreen cover is now 14 years old. It still does its job as well as it did when new but it is dirty, the Velcro is yellowing and it is in need of a good clean.
Has anyone done this and can offer any advice ?

Doh ! …I did e-mail years ago and got no reply. I assumed, and thought I’d been told, that they had stopped trading. I’ve just looked them up and they are still in business so will try again.
Thanks !

I take mine apart and lay the parts on the drive, soak them in warm water with a cup of fabric conditioner added, then give them a good going over with a soft yard brush. Finally rinsing with a hosepipe and hanging on the gate to dry.
I've done this every spring for the last ten years and they're still going strong.

Thanks. That sounds pretty painless. What lead you to the fabric conditioner rather than, say, laundry liquid ?

Really just reading what it said on the bottle. I think most laundry liquid/powder has salt added, which I thought wouldn't do the screen coatings any good.

I think the advice is "use a mild soap solution" so I just add a little Vanish to the water and use a soft wash brush to scrub, seems to work fine if the screen is well hosed off.
