Lovely day down here, cooler but wall to wall sunshine. Took the van for a run down to the beach and had a good walk, quite a lot of people in swimming, braver souls than me!
Nice to get a little bimble round in the van and start dreaming about Europe next year and where to go.
Have a great evening all  allthumbz

After the mixed cold weather when we were away it dosnt feel as cold now. I had one of my bad nights last night so I didn’t venture out until this evening to collect a Chinese takeout for tea. I walked across with just my fleece on so it must have been a bit warmer.
If it stays like this tomorrow I will try and get Derbyshire muck off the Rienza. I didn’t see any gritters last week but the step is white and crusty as it gets from road salt.

Mild and breezy this morning. Didn't have to put house lights on when I got back from shopping at about 8.30,  sure sign of daylight lengthening.

Despite face masks being compulsory in shops the usual cohort of young male workmen in for morning coffee from Costa machine in Tesco not wearing masks.

Shopping packed away, nice seat with feet up and cup of Yorkshire Gold while waiting for SWMBO to get up. coffee_drink

Have a good day whatever you have planned

Slight frost this morning, the second one of the winter so far, all gone by 0900hrs.
Much colder but still dry and sunny, currently 8 degrees. Thermals are still in the drawer no sign of needing them yet!

Still dry here but a bit on the dull side and 11°c. Like BB we've been to Tesco, the shopping takes around ten minutes to gather but my wife's, "I'll be back in a minute" and checking that Tesco haven't sneaked in new clothes since our last visit 7 days ago means an hour in the shop  shrugg

Took a run out in the car to Arbroath, take away coffee from local baker and sat in the car at the harbour. Not much going on today at the harbour other than street lights being checked by roads dept with one of those cherry pickers on top of transit jobs. Weather was very pleasant and managed to have window open.

Half a dozen motorhomes and camper vans lined up at the overnight parking spot near Signal Tower Museum.

Drove to Truro early, just under 10 miles and the weather varied between 1.5 and 7 degrees according to the gauge on the car, lots of mist pockets. 7 degrees here now and clear skies so promises to be a good day. Nothing much planned, car needs a good clean and would like to give the van its weekly bath.
Enjoyed an ace hot toddy last night, fresh lemon squeezed, manuka honey and strathspey malt, slept rather well after that. May have overdone the malt a little.

Still chilly out in the back garden. Lots of wee birds dukeing about the scrubs. Suns out though, looks abit like spring.
A wee drop of Arran 12 year old left from last year. Save that for Burns night.
Need to wait till May,when we get back up into the highlands again and visit some distilleries .
Have a nice day,stay warm.

Visit the distilleries by all means but keep your money in your pocket, they all charge premium (OTT) prices. You'll get better value in Tesco, Morrisons or Sainsburys. They almost always have something on "special" offer.

A nice bright crisp morning for our walk this morning. In the shade it as a bit frosty making the paths a bit slippery and the grass white.
After a bad night with joint pains a couple of nights ago I am a bit wary of walking on frosty paths. After management broke her ankle last summer the last thing I want is to go end over apex. I don’t think my reaction times are helped with stiff joints. Muttly thinks the frosty puddles are fun but he has big hairy feet so has quite good traction control. doggy

When we started on the tours (managed 11 of the Speyside ones on foot in a week) in the early 80s they were free as were all the tastings. On one occasion we were on the Speyside way with two friends and passing the Tamdhu visitor centre, which was then based in the railway station at the distillery. One of the staff came out with 4 whiskies on a tray and asked if we would like a tasting  biggrin I think Glenfiddich were the first to charge and others followed suit, now it's a money spinner for them.

Took muttly out for his evening watering and it’s thick fog here. He stopped at the door and sniffed the air making him sneeze. We only got to the grass at the end of the street before he did what  he had to do and then turned round and set off home.
I think a drop of my Christmas Chivas Regal might help keep the damp out of my joints. It’s not one I have tried before but must help if I drink  enough.

Pea souper with icey patches on the footpaths, short walk out with Tag, I went out myself for a chilly walk and back in for porridge.
Used to take the old guys from their rest home in Dunfermline up to the Glen Turret distillery near Crief, this is back in the 80's long before Pernod took in on.
The wee visitors room had free samples of all of there whiskies, the old guys loved it, looking back, I'm the same age as some of them.
ASDA in Elgin had a good range of whisky the last time I as in.
Have a nice day,stay warm.

Had to deice the car again this morning but not too hard a frost, pavements were ok. Scattered light cloud cover as daylight emerges  promises to be another nice day.

Take care.

Wish there was a name for a day that seems to keep repeating itself, maybe GH has some idea  snigger 12°c, dry and dull again.

My favourite tour from the 80s was the original Macallan one, all the staff including the directors took turns at leading it. Most distilleries just did the mundane walk round the process but they took us into the warehouses, where they did quality control and the big finish. We were led into a darkened room and when the show began they had a cartoon version of the process on a screen and a full sized, antique, fairground musical organ playing.
