Clubman Roof Vent Gas Strut Replacement Empty Clubman Roof Vent Gas Strut Replacement

hi to anyone out there listening... i have replacement gas struts for my roof vent... clubman anniversary 2003...but i'd be blowed if I can work out how to get the old ones out... especially the little retaining plastic covers.... has anyone else done it? or is there a YT vid or diagrams to help, ive looked but can find nothing....thanks in anticipation of your help

Hi Paul Thanks, Id already talked to them they only SELL and the whole roof vent at that, i have the new gas struts, i just cant work out how to get the old ones out

sorry just found the instructions v helpful... still cant remove the retaining plastic caps, maybe ill drill them out... heavily glued in to get to the retaining cross metal, thx anyhow, rgds keef

Hi Mr A,

I fitted new struts in my last camper van.

To remove the plastic caps i screwed a sharp pointed screw into the cap and pulled the screw with pliers.

To remove the pin I lubricated it then clamp'd onto it with needle/long nose pliers and tapped in the correct direction with 'something' to shock it out.

And as they say to put it together again reverse the process.

Yes the caps have a small (or large) hole but its not that obvious unless you know about it.
