Toolstation Empty Toolstation

Post by groundhog Sat Aug 08, 2020 9:45 pm

Over the years I have bought quite a few items from Toolstation, never a problem and they seem to have excellent reviews.

Recently bought some De Walt tools (strimmer, hedge cutter, pole saw) which should have each come with a spare battery, when they arrived there was only one battery not three! OK mistakes happen, nothing to shout about... except..
I have now e mailed them six times, phoned three times holding for 45 minutes on one call, spoke to a charming Lady who said someone would call me back (as if) and nothing has been heard weeks later. Really hacked off with them and now about to buy a bunch more stuff, from someone else!!
Anyone ever tried going through a credit card company under section 72 to get recompense? Not many things make me angry but this really has. tap_fingers

Frequently use Toolstation & Screwfix - seems to be on a weekly basis at present as have both in town. Have found in past that some Toolstation products are cheap & flimsy, however branded items are fine & usually cheaper than Screwfix. Disappointed to hear they have not sorted the problem for you. I find sometimes you get things which people have had & returned minus parts like a plumbing valve I bought to find it was missing the pipe olives & nuts! Hope they sort it for you.

Sorry to hear about your issues with toolstation but if my experience is anything to go by a " section 75 " claim will probably sort it but could take 6 weeks or so.

Me and Mrs Geoffrey had a holiday booked with "Secret escapes" to Corfu coronavirus meant it was cancelled and after exchanging a few emails with them requesting a refund I eventually gave up and made a section 75 claim.

I guess most credit card providers are similar and with mine (Nationwide) it was relatively easy , they had a downloadable form to fill out giving the details of the claim which is posted back to them , they contacted me a couple of times to reassure me they were dealing with the claim but due to the volume of claims it may be several weeks after about six weeks I received a letter to say the funds had been 're credited to my credit card account.

You can also keep chasing Toolstation at the same time.

Hope you get it sorted  Geoff
