Vision Plus Status 570 aerial
Hi all, has anyone fitted or had fitted the Status 570 aerial to their MHs either in locker or wardrobe? I am considering replacing the original circular type as reception is getting pretty poor in most, if not all, places. Ours is a 2006 Nuevo and places to fit it seem limited to wardrobe but ideally the o/s locker forward of the wardrobe would be better. I'm looking for advice as a 50mm hole in the wrong place in the roof doesn't bear thinking about. I fitted one in our previous MH, an elderly Laika A class with plenty room, so fitting isn't a problem it's the positon that needs some thought.
Thanks everyone
David

Re: Vision Plus Status 570 aerial
I find that the Maxview omnidirectional TV aerial that we have sometimes doesn't give good reception. Replacing it with a directional Status 570 aerial might improve things but probably not sufficiently to justify the expense. I bought a Maxview Compact Tri-Boom TV aerial for my Nuevo which I deploy when needed and gives better reception than the Status 570 and is cheaper. It's quite bulky but collapses into a bag that I keep in the bottom of the wardrobe. I attached it to a pole that fits onto the rear bike rack. It doesn't take too long to set-up and take down. Other options are Freesat or the Internet.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Avtex aerials don't look like much, but they are considered one of the best, without going to the fiddle of a pole and a small "domestic" aerial.
About £40, so not too expensive either.

Thanks for the practical replies. I think we are going for the Maxview compact tri boom (the one we didn't consider) as it seems the best compromise and using the status amplifier the signal should be good.
Thanks,
David

Picture of the Status 530 (I think) that I had installed when van was new in 2011. I don't think you will better the 570 for a permanent motorhome installation. The Avtex aerial mentioned is good but needs power supply either from the Avtex TV or an external psu.

The tri-boom's performance is significantly better than the Maxview omni-directional and Vision directional. I have used both. Mounting it is an issue as its a big boy. I use a 10 foot satellite dish pole cut into two with the lower section permanently attached to the bike rack with jubillee clips and it works for me.davemarshall wrote:Thanks for the practical replies. Before anything else, I'd give this a try, needs a metal roof though....
Mine is working like a dream infintiely better than the fitted flying saucer!
You'll have to risk a whole £9:95 tho!

They have gone up a bit Ian, at least on Amazon! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
For a "plastic" roof it wouldn't be much trouble to glue on a small metal plate.

Unfortunately not Dave. It needs a metal roof as it uses the whole roof as a "ground plane", planet earth does much the same for your house one I think!!Gromit wrote:They have gone up a bit Ian, at least on Amazon! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: Vision Plus Status 570 aerial
Hi again, I bought the Maxview compact tri-boom and can now get 108 channels with strong signals as opposed to 44 with poor signals before. With the status amplifier switched off the reception is still good with no pixelating at all. It is at the same height as the circular one and MH in same position so thanks to Caraman for the recommendation and for £27 a bargain.
Thanks for the advice
