Habitation Service Empty Habitation Service

Post by Snowy Mon Oct 28, 2019 4:57 pm

I have dealt with a ncc approved workshop for a number of years and found their service without fault. Only to be told today they cannot do any work on our motorhome while under warranty has A/S do not recognise the ncc scheme. I asked about other companies in the A/S group to be told they are in the scheme. They did say we may be able to get dispensation from A/S to do any work. Can any body throw any light on this

Habitation Service Empty Re: Habitation Service

Seems odd as the wording in the warranty is..

The Warranty cover is subject to the completion
of a six year servicing and survey programme.
This work must be carried out by an authorised
Auto-Sleepers Dealer or an independent
service centre approved by Auto-Sleepers Ltd
and must, as a minimum, satisfy the
requirements of the NCC Motorhome Habitation
Service Schedule and include a comprehensive
Water Ingress Survey.

Heads up on what the warranty doesn't cover after year one... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I would say that the exclusions within that statement probably include my external locker door and the sink plug unit...
My vehicle is over 2 years old and yet the external locker door is being replaced next week under warranty and my bathroom sink plug was replaced last March again under warranty,   I’m still covered by warranty but I do return to my dealer for service.

Blimey, this has given me a wake up call.

My Symbol needs it’s first years habitation check in the next 4-6 weeks. I was going to get an NCC approved guy to do mine that I’ve used previously on my Eriba caravan. Old school, totally thorough and charges very reasonable rates for a top job.
Obviously not good enough for A/S, they would prefer to let the likes of Marquis (disclaimer...they are actually really good indeed) loose on my van which has absolutely nothing wrong with it now but I’m sure will have when it’s been away and checked, tested, probed etc..!!

Have you asked AS if you can use him? That warranty statement above says independent can be used if approved by AS. If he is NCC approved that meets the criteria.

That will be one of the questions I will be asking A/S regarding my upcoming habitation check Paul.
I can’t see anything wrong with quality independent people carrying out the check but things are never that simple when expensive franchises are involved.

I've just checked the Approved Workshop website and there is a list of manufacturers that support the AWS scheme and guess what - AS are listed, so I can see no reason for them not to approve your guy.

Good news, A/S have given the ok to use my chosen local mobile people.
For anyone needing to find a local company, the Approved Workshop website has a pretty good area search facility.

So Dbvwt has confirmed that you can use an an NCC Approved Workshop. So who was it that told you they couldn't do the work?
