Not a motorhome issue but some thing that baffles me. I phoned the pharmacy to renew my percription today, Thursday. Why does it takes until next Tuesday PM until I can collect it considering the doctors are in the same building. Even if they had to walk to the doctors to get the prescription signed it can't take four days, not including the weekend. The medication isn't a special order, I asked.
Apparantly it's because it's an on line prescription . I could walk up there and take the prescription to the doctor but it's a pain parking and I don't see why I should walk up there. When I collect my prescription the counter staff push the youngest member of staff to the front. They know how I feel about the system.

We also now have a pharmacy within the same building as the doctors' practice. I used to order by phone to the pharmacy or online on the surgery's website. However I am now registered for my surgery with EMIS patientaccess.com and can more easily order repeat prescriptions there, with my nominated pharmacy being the same one. They seem to be ready more quickly, usually within 48 hours. The pharmacy is open 7 days a week so I tend to order around now knowing that they'll definitely be available for collection over the weekend when there's less of a problem parking in the car park as the surgery is closed.

Our local Tesco in-store pharmacy does automatic re-ordering. I collect, they ask if I want all items next time, ready in 28 days time.

That's how my GP works.

I am going to really task there system later this year. I will need enough medication for my Ausy trip from the end of October until the 21st of December. When we went to New Zealand and Ausy last time it was twelve weeks. That caused a bit of a fuss ending with an interigation by the pharmacist and the the doctor..
The one good thing this trip is not having to pay for the prescription.

When I ask for 3 months worth each year my GP gives me a couple of spare packets in case I decide to extend. She reckons that if all her patients spent winter in Spain her yearly prescribing would drop as they’d all be healthier when they got back than they would be if they over-wintered in UK.
