The world has gone mad
I was passing our local charity shop this afternoon. In the window was a display of Christmas cards! It's only 1st August for crying out loud. Bah humbug. Anyway all is not lost....I bought mine immediately after last Christmas....50p a pack!

Likewise, we tend to buy cards that have been discounted by 50% immediately before or after Christmas. You can sometimes discover them reduced even further during the year as you say, for as little as 50p.

Much easier to have no friends and fall out with all your relatives then you don't need to buy any cards

We limit our friends and relatives to how many cards come in a pack, and we buy the pack at a Cancer Research shop.

I thought of that, several years ago when Royal Mail announced the 30% price increase in 2nd class stamps I purchased £100 worth in advance.
I still have a few left.

I thought I was being clever by taking the cards to managements relatives in Ausy this year rather than posting them. The flaw in that plan is the cost of the air fare and apartment for seven weeks.

Ha.
No, not Victorian unfortunately, only George V...
Yes, we take our cards and presents to NZ in person, saves at least £20 in postage, which does go quite a bit to offsetting the £2000 airfare...

Odd you should post this thread, I was about to do the same thing! Was in a well known discount store a couple of days ago, heard the manager say to one of the staff " We need to clear these items to make space for the Christmas stock" For goodness sake Easter has only just gone and we haven't had Brexit yet.

I am making my Christmas cards and calendars as usual, I start now so I get them done in time. I hate having to rush nearer the time.
