Demons in the system !!
Hello,
I have a Maxview Vuqube2 Sat system which feeds two avtex tv’s, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom. When the Maxview receiver is turned on and after searching has finished the light illuminated indicates that Astra 2 has been located. However when I turn the tv on in the lounge I am receiving Astra 1, when I try to Change to Astra 2 with the tv controls and search the transponder it will stop the search and I am still on Astra 1.
Interestingly the bedroom tv is locked on to Astra 2 and I am receiving the relevant channels, and if I turn the receiver off the tv in the lounge receives nothing but the bedroom tv still receives all Astra 2 channels.
Does anyone understand what is going on as I am at a loss, all I want to do really is get Astra 2 back onto the lounge tv.
Thank you in advance Niall.

Re: Demons in the system !!
Is one TV connected to the Maxview receiver on an HDMI or Scarf input and the other using its own built in satellite receiver and ignoring the Maxview?

Both are connected with coax cable ... your suggestion that one may be using its own receiver would make some sense. However both TVs must be receiving their signals from the same dish, I don’t understand how one tv can be receiving Astra 1 and the other Astra 2 ? Is the dish able to pick up both satellites at the same time ?
Thank you for your reply Ron

Hi ,I would guess Ron is correct , is it possible to switch the TVs around or inputs, that would prove something at least !I have a VUqube2 no problems but only one TV without its own sat receiver ,best of luck Regards Paul

Thanks Paul .... I’ll try a swap round later when home, as you suggest it may prove something.

To help I would need much more detail of the components in the system and how they are wired. Some models of Avtex TV command the dish to align to the satellite that transmits the channel selected automatically. Ie select RTL and the dish will move to Asrra 1, select BBC and the dish will move to Astra 2. Having two such TVs connected to one dish would cause the problem you experience.

All I know is the system make and their is one coax cable in to the receiver and one coax cable out, I am assuming the out cable is split Somewhere to then feed both Tv’s. Both used to be Receive Astra 2 Though.
I will also study the Tv destructions when home to ascertain whether they have their own in built receivers.
Thank you Peter.

Re: Demons in the system !!
Hi, the VUqube has 2 outputs , one goes to the control box to find the sat then the output from that and the other output from the cube go to a Freesat+ box so you can record and watch separate channels or to 2 TVs via a Freesat box with both sharing the signal ,if your TVs have built in Sat receivers then the output from the control box and the other output from the cube go direct and you then choose channels from your separate TVs .Hope this is of some help! Kind regards Paul

Hi , I should have said that the 2 outputs from the cube could also be put through 2 separate freesat receivers ,if your TVs are not Sat ready. The cubes a great piece of kit ,we did the Wild Atlantic Way in Eire last year and it really was a godsend,(they only have3/4 channels at best and sketchy signal most places) Kind regards Paul

Re: Demons in the system !!
I have managed to swop the TV’s over and they have retained their individual satellite, ie bedroom tv is now Astra 1 and lounge is now Astra 2 ( the other way around until swoped ).
My Astra tv is model no L218DRS, I have read the manual and can see no reference to them having in built receivers. I do not understand how through one sat dish two TV’s can be receiving transmissions form separate satellites, are Astra 1 and 2 so close that this is possible ?
My system was factory fitted from new so I have no access to connections ect, I can only see the feeds into and out of the receiver box.
Thanks for your help so far ... regards Niall.
