Gel Coat Query
Morning All
Due to an 'unfortunate incident' I find myself about to have the rear panel on my 2014 Broadway repaired. I have found someone to do it who has lots of experience with GRP and I am confident he will do a great job but would like to give him a headstart on the colour and thereby save time and money.
Apparently gel coat is clear and then tinted with pigment to acheive the required colour. I have called A/S without success (apparently they only assemble stuff) and wondered if anyone knows what the colour code is for the rear wraparound panel, basically the whole back of the van.
Many thanks folks !

Re: Gel Coat Query
It doesn't matter what Gel coat colour was originally used. The repairer needs to match whatever the bodywork colour is now.

Not too far from you from Crossley Coachcraft at Leyland did some repairs on our 1st motorhome that involved Gel Coat matching did an excellent job
Regarding the colour If Cheltenham Laminates make the rear ends they would be able to tell you the colour

Re: Gel Coat Query
I had a small contretemps with our Bourton earlier this year. The repair was sprayed and nobody would be able to tell. The repairer took a bit of the damaged fibreglass to a paint specialist to get a match.

Re: Gel Coat Query
Thanks all for your replies. I have had a look at the Cheltenham Laminates website and they have a number of A/S vans in their galley as examples of their work, so it appears highly likely they have a connection, will call them tomorrow.

CL have a long history with AS. They made all their monocoque GRP bodies. They have the original moulds.

Re: Gel Coat Query
Rubi’s Dad, I am very suprised that AS were not more helpful and pass you straight onto Cheltenham Laminates if they are responsible for the recent GRP fabrications on AS vans.

Hi, Cheltenam Laminating as it is called ,was founded by my uncle Bob Burch and his partner Maurice in the 60s and produced "monocoque" bodies for A/S until they sold them the company in the 90s I think, so they are the people to speak to if they still do their panels. Best of luck with this, Kind regards Paul
