Hi everyone,
Before the really serious business of enjoying the festive season get underway (and that doesn't include shopping, cos. that's not fun!) Can we just wish you all the very best of times, and thank you for the pleasure and benefits the forum has provided for us during the year.

As we've said before, we only bought "Alice" our 1995 Symphony at the end of 2010, after several decades of caravaning, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, though the combination of a very harsh winter and two family weddings during the summer did somewhat curtail our travel plans in 2011. All that's behind us now, and we look forward to next year and some serious touring.

However, one additional bonus of motor homing we didn't initially consider was the "festive sleepover!" To explain.... For some years now, when we've visited family or friends, No 1 (and only!) driver has made the best of being limited to soft drinks, whilst all around slide merrily down hill. There's only so much coca-cola a sane man can drink however, and then the envy/boredom sets in!
However, this year all is different. We're off to the daughter and family for Christmas lunch, and the plan is to park "Alice" on their drive, make up the beds, and then get stuck in to the festive cheer. At the end of the evening we can then slip into bed, and drive quietly away next morning, disturbing no one and not adding to the domestic arrangements of a young family. Same is planned for New Years Eve at some friends.
What a wonderful extra benefit, Magic!

Thanks Dutto,

Your greetings and kind thoughts were much appreciated.

Yes, we had a good time, though it already seems a long time ago!
We slept out in "Alice", our AS Symphony on Christmas day and on New Years Eve, which meant we could enjoy all the festive fun, without being a domestic burden on our hosts. Another unforseen benefit was that we could offer catering support. When the daughter discovered the Turkey was a pretty tight fit in her oven, we fired up our oven and "Himself" was delegated to keep a watching (but not touching !) brief on the roasting vegetables and "pigs in blankets". Even better, he could enjoy a large G and T and a puff on his pipe whilst doing so (pipe banned in doors for obvious reasons!)...result!

Hope you're both feeling better, after the little disturbances in the nether regions. I work part time as a hospital porter, and such things are an occupational hazard from time to time, so we do sympathise.

kind regards
