240 socket Empty 240 socket

Post by paul long Wed Sep 14, 2016 7:01 pm

Hi, can anyone  tell me  how to remove a 240 socket.  It's black with a Crome outer trim, no screws showing. My wife used it for her hair dryer and now it doesn't work.

The outer rim should clip off revealing the screws behind. Are you sure the hairdryer has not just tripped the circuit breaker on your mains box?

Do as moggy suggests, to remove the trim, just prises off then remover socket from the wall box and check the connections to the socket.
It can happen that just 1 socket fails.  I have a 6 bank in the radio shack and all are ok barring one socket

Have you checked the wire connections on the plug ? scratch head
Also the fuse in the hair drier plug ? shrugg
Can't be anything complicated, if it was working ok initially..............(famous last words) Whistle1

Hair dryer still works so it must be the socket. Thanks for reply.
