Re: Missing TV Channels
No.
I've had that problem once, but it happened only at one location, and has never occurred again. I can only think it was something to do with the local signal.
The little Avtex aerial is not as good as they claim on the box, but it should work well where the signal is fairly strong.
Have a look at this App for the smart phone. It seems to work very well.

The local look north programmes are none digital in this area, however you should be able to get all channels if you retune using your AQT button on the remote.romperstomper wrote:hi all i hve a avtex 153d tv with avtex ariel i can get most channel,s

We have the lastest Avtex TV and still have to retune when arriving at a new location, even then we cannot always get BBC and some commerial channels without moving the aerial slightly to get a decent picture.
If you get a free view box you should pick up there channels.

Re: Missing TV Channels
Have you retuned it since it was last moved to a new location?
I've also occasionally found what Dave mentions - occasionally you can lose just one multiplex on a transmitter, either through equipment failure or maintenance work. In my experience a multiplex can go out for several days before anyone gets round to fixing it...

Re: Missing TV Channels
I too have had this problem. My thinking was that all signals come from the same transmitter (why would some not have BBC?) so if some are missing I move the van a few metres and it usually finds them after re-tuning.

Re: Missing TV Channels
The channels do not necessarily all come from the same transmitter. It's very common to have local repeater stations that only transmit a subset of all of the freeview channels/multiplexes.
What you are probably seeing is a situation where the transmitter output is reaching you via two different paths (possibly in two directions round either side of a hill, or possibly one direct and one reflected) which results in an interference pattern. In that situation, movements of a few metres can make a big difference to the signal level. It was relatively common with analogue signals, but it seems to be much more rare with digital - probably because it's better at rejecting interference.

Re: Missing TV Channels
I have found when moving sites or areas I have to retune my Avtex.

Re: Missing TV Channels
Try another aerial Paul, even connect to the coax in your house, you should have a 240 volt cable in the case.
The TV was working on all tuned in channels when you came to view the TV last year, I showed you the DVD working and hi lighted the other cables, remote and user manual in the carry case.

Re: Missing TV Channels
I find the Avtex aerial really good.
Are you powering the aerial?
I'm not sure about the 153D, but my version powers the aerial through the TV itself and so far have never failed to get the Beeb channels.
As above, the aerial alignment apps are essential to point it in the right direction though, and sometimes, mounting outside will give you a little better reception if you don't mind having a window ajar slightly.
