Not normally, the onboard charging system should take care of battery charging.

The only type of trickle charger you may want is a solar charger to keep the battery charged when the van is not in use (there are several threads on the forum about that).

I get  the feeling that there is something unsaid behind the question.  Is there a particular problem you’re trying to solve?

Winter will eventually return and the thought crossed my mind that I might have to fit a trickle charger to make sure that the batteries stay in good health but I went to a caravan accessory shop and was told that all I needed was to plug the Camper into a power source as a charger is already fitted.

On our 2002 Pollensa the charger which connects when on hookup charged the leisure battery but not the engine battery, same as on our previous (non-AS) van.

The simplest fit and forget solution was to fit one of these:

This was simple to fit on the wiring by the relay/fuse block under the driver's seat and has worked perfectly over the ten years we have now owned the van.

Hi
Some trickle chargers can still over charge the battery and boil away the electrolyte ,a good charger is the Ctek it has several functions but it is not cheap
