Motorhome Insurance
The Bourton is to be collected on Saturday:smile!:
Can anybody suggest the best provider for insurance.. Cost and cover etc
There is an alarm and tracker fitted.. So this should help reduce the premium
Thanks

Re: Motorhome Insurance
I use APlan but took off the breakdown cover as I already have one. Phone around. You'll be surprised in the difference you get quoted.

Re: Motorhome Insurance
Its about looking who is best for you.
There are three or four companies who are well known specialist insurers who also include breakdown/recovery. Two of them are ok for me but not the others, but that is not to say they are not right for you.
Have a look at Safeguard, CaravanGuard,Comfort, Shield, for starters

Re: Motorhome Insurance
It's like a car so shop around. We're with our second insurer now and have longer times abroad, I restrict my mileage, and include breakdown cover which was much cheaper then the conventional companies. I obtained a further discount with membership of another forum *This is not a recommendation* Don't accept the first quote.

Re: Motorhome Insurance
I've always been with the Caravan Club with the van and now have both cars with them and probably the house next year.
We were rear ended a few years ago and the way they dealt with the claim was exemplary.
The last few years the premium has reduced at every renewal without any need to shop around or barter - wonderful.

Re: Motorhome Insurance
Must admit the CC are good albeit a tad more expensive. We do have MH and house with them but not competitive for a 22 yr old Landrover ha ha.

Re: Motorhome Insurance
I have been with the C/C and Greenflag for a few years now, I had been with Safeguard for 13 Yrs with no claims/problems all that time ,then I broke down was recovered very efficiently by the AA and was garaged for a week until the problem was found.I understood from the printed policy that they at least compensated you for onward travel Etc to at least get you home![70 miles]. But they point blank refused any help at all !It just proves that you don't know how good your insurance is until you make a claim .In retrospect I should have taken legal advise ,but at the time you have lots of other issues to worry about ' and that is precisely why you need reliable insurance! Needless .to say I wouldn't now touch Safeguard with a bargepole It is reassuring to see Peter Browns comments regarding C/C Regards Paul

Re: Motorhome Insurance
I got my insurance from SAGA, premium was well under anyone else on like for like cover. When shopping around on line, it was remarkable how often "quotes" from the usual suspects jumped considerably and required the final arrangement to be confirmed by telephone. In the case of one of the aforementioned companies the actual quote was more than double the one on line.

Re: Motorhome Insurance
If you want insurance without compulsory breakdown cover (you may already have 'personal cover' with the big breakdown companies) then try Highway (part of LV) or Scenic (part of Swinton, as is Safeguard but without the breakdown bit).

Re: Motorhome Insurance
Thanks for all the replies.. Very useful
After 1/2 day of getting quotes went with Comfort (Aviva underwritten) 8K miles, fully comp , 2 drivers, satellite dome covered
£289
Highest quote of 6 was CC at £570
Do not use GoCompare .. They quoted 440 for the policy I eventually got by direct telephone call
