I've only ever come across the 'colour' match before on Status 'flying saucer' aerials. On those the colour writing on the aerial had to match the colour writing on the booster box. Not heard of it with reference to Teleco aerials and as Oldfred has been said there is no difference between analogue and digital aerials.

This site may prove helpful but it is scathing of Omni-directional aerials.
It has a vast amount of info and transmitter maps for around the country.
He seems to advocate a external standard aerial which may be problematic for some owners.

I endorse the contents of the link above and agree that Deka was fed bull.
Deka, am busy next couple of days but if you can supply much more info on where and nature of problems may be able to help.
Peter

Reading through all this there is also the possibility that the antenna or booster is faulty?
My antenna was faulty when I picked up the new van and a new one fitted at AS. Or a cable or plug fault, corrosion for example.

I recently purchased a LABGEAR DVB signal finder (Amazon) for about £8. Plugs into the aerial and gives an LED display to indicate when the aerial is receiving the strongest signal. Just finishing a 12 day trip and it seems to have done its job. We are at Chirk now and the signal seems fine. Worth a try ???

There is (it seems) no such thing as a 'digital aerial' all aerials are analog, the digital bit comes later in the decoding of the signal. In the set top box or TV. All TV broadcasts in Europe are, far as I am aware, on UHF frequencies.

The main difference for the viewer between analog and digital is the effects of a poor signal on the  picture and sound.

In analog the pictures degrades gradually with 'snow' and 'ghosting'(from reflections from aircraft or buildings). The sound has greater noise (background hiss).

Poor signals in digital areas ( everywhere now) lead to either 1) complete loss of picture of sound, with 'no signal' displayed on the screen  2) picture and sound some of the time with silence and hangups in between or 3) Very 'blocky' moving picture with very distorted sound.

So whereas in the old analog days you could get a 'watchable' picture with a poor aerial and poor signal you now might need a better one to see all of the channels all of the time.
