Campsite near to Menai Straits/Port Dinorwic

Post by meanchris on Wed Oct 16, 2013 6:51 pm

Hi folks,

can anyone, perhaps with local knowledge, recommend or even just point us to the nearest MH site to Port Dinorwic, that's still open this weekend?

Thanks

You are a gem, thanks, we've sent them a contact email.

We'll report back if we stay there.

fingers crossed you get booked okay. Weather forecast is looking not too bad for the weekend, a few showers perhaps (that's probably famous last words  smile! )
Hope you enjoy your weekend away and would love to hear about the area when you get back

regards

Thanks for the pointer Moira, we spent two nights at Riverside Camping.

It's very handy for Bangor, Caenarfon and the like and was only 10 mins from Port Dinorwic where we had our PBII training weekend.

The site is well laid out and has some grass, some slate gravel pitches. We had D1 which is a "Deluxe Hard Standing", £22/night with all amenities included, water, EHU and TV (Freeview). We found one minor irritant, in that the Freeview point was an "F" connector not co-ax, so I had to remove part of our co-ax plug and stick th' wire in th' 'ole, a bit unnerving when you're not 100% confident that it isn't a satellite feed and you've arrived after the office is closed.

There's a very smartly refurbished restaurant on site, in the style of an (or maybe a genuine) old barn. The service in there was friendly and accomodating, and the menu quite interesting. We both had steak, ( as we had promised ourselves) but I was sorely tempted by an attractive hake dish.

To be honest, our course meant that we didn't see much of the site in daylight, but we were happy with our choice.

We would use this site again. :)
