bedford cf pop top

Post by Betty Bedford on Mon Sep 16, 2013 8:12 pm

this might seem like a strange question, but i have just been looking at pic's of bedford cf's ( as you do) and i noticed that the inside of the mk1 pop top was like a vinal finish.  Now mine is an mk2 and has a carpeted roof, so what i would like to know is, is that original or has someone added it? does anyone know?

I don't know for sure, as we never owned a Bedford conversion, but I can remember when we got our Mk2 Transit (about the same age as your CF) we though that carpet on the roof was a bit odd, so I'm fairly sure that our previous A-S conversion (on a Commer) had a vinyl covering. If they used vinyl on the Commer, they almost certainly did the same on Bedfords of the same era.

Yeah thats what i thought.  Also when the top is up the carpet sticks out of the back of the roof about an inch and from what i've seen of auto sleepers work i can't imagine that they would have done that.
