Naburn Lock York

Post by Dave 418 on Sun Mar 10, 2013 5:45 pm

allthumbz Just had our first weekend away in our Duetto. We stayed at Naburn Lock near York for two nights this weekend. Lovely site if you can judge it the second weekend they were open. The grass was very bogy but there there was plenty of hard standings to choose from. The toilet blocks are modern clean and freshly kept.
The site owners gave us lots of local information on arival regarding enything you mite need from bus times to local take aways and pubs. The shop was a bit low on stock but had what we needed, the owners said they were re-stocking this week ready for the season.
We got the bus into York Saterday, a great place to go on a sogy March day. You can stay fairly dry with the amount of things to do. Today we drove up to Beningbourgh hall. After a look round we had lunch in there car park before heading home.
A good first weekend to start with. Only a minor migle with the van that will be sorted when I get back to work tomorow. Were we go next is the question ?. scratch head Have van will travel. good2

Good to know that the site is open again.
We had to cancel a club rally there a few years ago because the complete site was under water. It was so bad that the site owners told our rally officer that the site may never open again.
We had two rallies there and really enjoyed both. We went into York on the water bus which was a very good relaxing way to get there.
Must let our new rally officer know that it's open again.

Thanks!

think_smiley_46 I know about York and its flooding and did feel a little concerned , more so when I noticed the elecrtical juntion boxes were on poles about 10ft above the hook up boxes. Another site user tryed to use the grass to manover his van and left some good trenches behind. I didnt mind things being a bit soggy untill management took a short cut back to the van and then forgot to wipe her feet. censored! She will hoover the van out she says.
The notice on the back of the shower doors was amusing. It mentioned things not to leave in the showers, wooden legs ect. lol4 I should have made a note but you will see if you go there.
The minor nigle being a driping drain tap on the water tank. We have filled and drained the tank all winter for our days out but it waits till now to leak. To be sorted and costs refunded by Meridian . Nothing seems to much trouble to them so far. All we have to do now is work out how to stop this never ending winter. Any sugestions for weekends around this corner of the country wil be considered for future visits. allthumbz
