Tan y Bryn C&CC CS Llandudno Junction

Tan y Bryn is a rather remote CS but it sure is worth the effort to get there. There are not many sites around the Llandudno area, certainly none in Llandudno itself so this is possibly the nearest one. The C&CC Big Sites guide gives directions which at first make you think it is more in Colwyn Bay but it really is the only way to reach this site. Do not use a Sat Nav as this will take you off the A55 at the next junction and lead you up very narrow lanes with several 1 in 4 (25%) hills. The villagers of Bryn Pydew have nowhere to park but on the road and so you will not get through with a coachbuilt and even struggle with a PVC.
We had only phoned the site on the morning of our arrival to check on availability and Karen had promised us 'you have spectacular views from here'. When we arrived she was most apologetic that we couldn't see the views - fog had rolled in and we couldn't see a thing. She told us we were the only visitors so to pitch where we liked and register later when we were settled in. There are two fields, the farthest being for tents and the nearest had 7 hardstanding pitches all with hook-up. All but one are slightly sloping so you need levelling ramps.
When we went to register and pay we were shown all the facilities which were - Seperate Ladies and Gents toilets, a wetroom shower which would put some commercial sites to shame, a pot-washing room which also had a large fridge-freezer, two water points and of course the chemical disposal. The shower is metered at £1 for 15 minutes but is big enough to share, in fact the whole family would fit in if you had children with you. We met David who had been painting the Ladies toilet who was joy to talk to. The farm (probably more a small-holding)has some sheep, hens, ducks and has been a campsite since 1948 after his parents bought it in 1947 and David was born there in 1948.
Waking up next morning we were indeed welcomed with wonderful views across the valley to the sea at Penrhyn Bay with the Little Orme ahead and the Great Orme in the distance to the left. This is what I call a real CS , cost including hook-up £14 per night.

Hi Paul

I loved North Wales when we visited last year, especially around Llandudno and the Great Orme content . The site sounds fabulous up! , shame its not more easily accessible.
