Thetford C200 Toilet - float mechanism

Post by Chinaexplorer on Tue Feb 12, 2013 10:55 am

Hi everyone. Does anyone have experience of replacing the float mechanism in the Thetford toilet cassette? When I emptied the cassette I noticed that there was something loose at the bottom. Yesterday I got round to checking what it was and found the float mechanism had fallen out. I managed to retrieve it but can't see how to fit it back in. Can anyone advise?

Hi there,

Check the Factsheets section where you will see all you need to know.

Thanks for the link, but I don't think it is the same thing. The mechanism that I am talking about seems to be related to the warning light that tells you that the toilet is full. It comprises a plastic framework with a float and a metal contact. It looks as if it should fit just underneath the opening "door" of the cassette.

If you look at the recent post on C200s you should see quite a few links to manuals and breakdown/assembly drawings which should clarify things for you

Problem solved

Post by Chinaexplorer on Fri Feb 15, 2013 4:28 pm

Well I managed to get it sorted. I couldn't find the instructions on the web for my unit, but Thetford were excellent and E mailed me a copy. Even then it was very difficult but there are some helpful videos on YouTube that didn't show me how to do it, but showed what the inside looks like. Well I wouldn't make a very good gynacologist (or vet) but did finally after many attempts manage to get the float back into the correct place. Time for a beer!
