My 88 Flair. missing a shower.

Post by rov-ypa on Mon May 30, 2011 3:10 pm

Hi, I bought my 88 flair cause it was an auto. i spent a week in it recantly camping wild across the north and south of wales and england. I realise just how much i miss a shower.. I really need a shower to use in the van. is there an ad-hoc tempory shower I can put up and use inside the van I can buy on the market that can be bought some place. Any suggestions anyone?

Cheers,

Andrew.

Can't see how that would be possible Andrew scratch head

Best bet is something like this: Shower Deck Kit

Hi Andrew and welcome to the Forum
I agree with CC - You'd be hard pushed to put a showere in yours without a MAJOR refurbishment - Better off with a solar shower and a toilet tent.

I just thought of somthing.lol it came to me over night. its a bit of a nutty professor idea :-) there is plenty of room in the back of the van for a shower. easly enought room. This may work but will look kind of odd without spending big bucks on a old van and having a shower proffesonaly installed. well. here's my idea its abit mad but thought out properly i think it may work. you no one of those small sized blow up inflateable baby/todderler paddeling pools! Well, i could use one of those for a tray to collect the water. and if i used some type of a pump to drain the water inserterted. i could rig up somthing so to suspend a curcilar shaped shower curtain rail just below the roof vent and buy one of those shower heads to attach to the hot tap i think it could work just as long i kept the shower curtain inside the tray, it should be ok and once ive had the shower i can just stow it away. having a wash down in the sink is ok but after a couple of days a shower is a must.

you see, i like to camp wild. since i bought my first camper that did have a shower in 2000, i think ive stayed on site only 4 times up to present day. I like to camp wild most places. in city's and towns and villages. Im my last camper which was a fait ducato a class it ended up having a bult in 240/3.5kv gen and a washing machine. lol. I used to be complety independant. funny wachting the van rock when the washer was on its spin cycle.lol

somtimes i like to think out of the box.lol a couple of years ago i had a prolem with a branch that was 25 feet from the ground and i dont like heights. it was reaching over too far and blocking the light from my next door niabours kichen. he was going to get a tree surgen to cut it back to the trunck. while he was ringing round for quotes. i made a veay long pole out of 3 old clothes line wood props using strong elephant tape to bind them together with a long hand saw at the end. after an hour my nabour came out side and rubbed his eyes with dis beleife with joy. i distracted him with a ring around task while i got on with the job. he did not how i did it cuase he was too busy on the net and phone. i save my self a prity penny there and my frenship with my nabour. lol

Hi

Having been Camping, Caravanning, and Campervanning over the past 40yrs I have seen many ideas for showering. The one that used to make us laugh, was the one advertised in the Exchange & Mart. This had a set of bellows with a rubber hose leading up to a ring with holes in it, which you placed round your neck, you then placed the bellow in some sort of container and proceeded to pump the water up the pipe and out of the holes and down your body. Well that was the theory but we never had the guts to buy one so didn't know if it worked, or not.

When we lived in Germany we did buy a Safari Douche which had a 12v water pump and pipe with shower head which you worked from a water (powered from the Cigarette Lighter socket)container or river. This did work well, but we did shower outside the van.

I think the Plastic bag (Solar) hanging from the cycle rack with some jerryrigged modesty screen is you simplest answer, or call in at the nearest Swimming Pool.

Here we go....
open the rear doors
Put a length of expanding curtain wire between them.
Hang up a shower curtain
Use a solar shower
stand on the rear step and shower.
Don't fall off and hope the wind don't blow.
.
If you're really in the wild you can omit the curtain! hugegrins

thats funny. im will take a look at those solar powered shower unit wot nots. never seen one before. using an old push bike wheel suspended from the roof air vent and with some of the spokes removed i can hang a shower curatin from that. i can place a shower head on the center of the wheel and as long all the water runs in to the inflatbe babys paddeling poole with an 12v pump taking away the dirty water. there you have it! a shower that can be put up in mins and cost almost nothing to buy and used to get clean after a day on the beach. once done it can all be dryed of and stowed away easily. what do you think of that then. i cant think of any think better just know. it make look kind of odd but i bet it will work. cant wait to sorce all the bits and try it out. its gunna look so funny :-) Hey how do you put photo's in here. id like do do that. pls someone tell me how?

If you have the type of internet explorer that has tabs to allow 2 or more sites open at once you can have photobucket and autosleepers open at the same time. It's less confusing.
