Forgot to mention this sooner but when we were in Cheltenham last week I saw Robert Dyas had these hand held vacs reduced from £49.99 to £14.99

I admit I was very sceptical at that price until I looked at it in the shop and felt the weight of it, it seems good quality and has a hepa filter as well and is quite a powerful little thing and ideal for our motorhome when away. The website is showing them out of stock but we saw plenty in store at both Cheltenham & Stratford Upon Avon.

We got a purple one, and they had red as well... Ideal if like us you are a dog owner.

Really pleased with ours Brian (if you do manage to grab one)
We stayed at a lakeside site near Newark at the weekend, and the owner had just cut the grass prior to our arrival... rolleyes
There was grass everywhere inside our MH so angry Just fetched out the vac and it did a sterling job of picking up the wet / damp grass in no time. hoover_smiley11

Thanks CC,

The nearest Robert Dyas to us (when at home) is at Maidstone (not really just around the corner) so we might have 'missed the boat' .... shame as it sounded exactly what we had been looking for and at a great price !!
As you know, we are at Kings Lynn at the moment, so will check out stores on on our way 'darn sarf'

12v hand held vac £14.99 at Robert Dyas Empty 12 volt vacuum

Post by murph Sat Jun 16, 2012 11:09 am

Hi All,
Several years ago I took out a sub to practical motorhome magazine with a free B&d vac, when the vac didn't arrive I rang up and complained, I then got a parcel with guess what, 2 vacuums, One is still in use in the MH and the other is in the cupboard waiting for the one in use to break down. excellent machine with a wide range of tools.

The Beldray 12v vacuum has been marvelous, performs brilliantly and isn't too big to travel with us... battery lasts only around 8-10 mins but still long enough to get our carpets and upholstery cleaned up each day, certainly one of our better buys! had never heard of Beldray before buying it but it seems to work as good and even better than the bigger names from our experience. if I see another I will snap it up for a spare at a later date smile!

Hi CC

How long does it take to fully charge and does it require mains to charge?

Think it's about a couple of hours Bob if it's fully depleted, and yes it requires mains to charge... it's a rechargeable unit, not one that plugs into a 12v socket

Hi CC,

Thanks for the quick response.

I try to avoid mains (EHU) preferring to rely on my solar panel.

Thanks anyway.

Hoping to pick one up from Robert Dyas on Monday. Now £19.99 but still seems a good buy. up!

Hi CC,

Well it's taken us a while, but we finally got one allthumbz

'The original factory shop' in Deal had three in stock (£20:00) and one of those had a dodgy switch (we found out the hard way rolleyes )

Chris is very pleased with it up! ..... (well that's why women have shorter feet .... to get nearer the kitchen sink snigger ) ...... please keep that from Mrs CC hugegrins

Although I have fitted a 600 watt inverter in our Clubman (for when 'free' camping) we will probably leave the Beldray mounting bracket / mains charger behind (to save space) and use a 12 volt plug / lead ...... nothing very technical ...... just a cigarette plug to a 2.1 x 5.5 power plug (maplin HH61R)... (centre pos.)

The Beldray charger dishes out about 15 volts DC, but our Leisure Batteries normally stay at about 13.8 volts during the day (110 watt solar panel) so charging will take a bit longer, and of course will be on the Vehicle battery when travelling .... time will tell !!

Thanks again for telling us about Chris's new toy allthumbz

Brian
