1985 Autosleeper VW T25 High top

Post by Jeff J on Sun Jan 20, 2013 2:43 pm

Can anyone tell me if the suspension was altered from standard when doing these conversions. Mine is either high at the front or low at the back but I can't find a definitive answer about springs & dimensions from the ground. The petrol & water tanks are both empty if that makes a difference.

Hi Jeff

Sorry I can't help but there are a few T25 owners who pop onto the forum now and again.... Ade has a T25 Auto-Sleeper so he may be able to advise better if he reads this... Not really sure if it helps but we had a Trident on the later VW T4 and as far as I'm aware that had standard suspension and springs and was quite a soft ride. I wouldn't have thought that Auto-Sleepers uprate the suspension on most of it's vehicles due to their commercial nature to start with, but having said this I know they order in Peugeot base vehicles with an additional rear leaf spring.

My 91 is original and sits level

Post by Crash on Wed May 01, 2013 11:22 pm

My 1991 T25 Trident is all original and sits perfectly level. I was going to lower her when I fitted the 16 inch Mercedes wheels but decided against it because I occasionally tow a trailer with it. I'd say if she's not level, then something's wrong.

If it helps anyone else with this problem, I eventually found out that the dimension from the centre of the hub to the wheel arch should be approx 17 inches front & back & I had to replace my rear springs.
