I recently picked up this adaptor at a local motorhome show. It comes in different sizes to fit Fiamma openings. Just clip it in, connect the hose and turn on the water.

Looks a neat solution that ki..... not sure if these are available over here in the UK, do you know the correct name for them?

Available from Johns Cross, I believe they are made by Heosafe .

Not cheap but they do the job.

I don't know the name but the product is made locally. It cost less than half of the John's Cross one and came with a free bucket.

Thanks guys... maybe I can pick one of these up at one of the shows in the future a bit cheaper, may see if I can spot any on ebay maybe? £20 + postage is more than I would want to pay ideally smile!

A useful gadget Empty water filler

This is very similar to the fitting I have mentioned with regard to the water inlet on Cruizing Comets new Nuevo on the coachbuilt thread.

Thought what a good idea....did some research, but be careful. I don't think the Heos one is suitable for a Fiamma inlet. Don't go spending £20 and find out it's no good!

I have checked up and found that my adaptor is called an ‘Aqua Ezi Fill’ and is advertised as a NZ product.

It comes from Jim Foster Design and Manufacturing:

aquaezifill@gmail.com

I purchased it at the recent Auckland Motorhome Show. It cost 20 NZD (10 GBP) and it came with a free bucket (which I didn’t take) but I am sure that you could buy it without the bucket for less.

I guess the postage would be the deciding factor but you may be able to persuade a small manufacturer such as Jim Foster to post it by the cheapest option.

Peugeotboxer is quite right. They don't work with Fiamma kit. Been there, wasted the money....... so_sad

Bumps-a-daisy.

I finally got around to ordering a filler from Gillon's (previous post).

The upside is that it works, shove it in and wander off, no leaks or soggy trouser legs. 'smile!'

The downsides........well it's pretty crude and potentially flimsy for £18 delivered. (Though there's a 12 month guarantee.) I tried turning it to lock the bayonet coupling in the water filler and had a bit of a faff getting it out again; the 'lugs' and locking 'pin' are just plastic grub screws and plastic on plastic is never going to be rigid. It turns clockwise to lock OK but anti-clockwise to unlock results in it starting to unscrew itself. However the yellow plastic 'bung' is a good interference fit so I just shoved it in the 'ole and it held happily against full water pressure from a garden hose. I can't say whether it would take full mains pressure.

We'll see how it goes, but for now it makes a real difference to the tedious ('specially at the end of a long day's drive) business of filling the tank.

Hi there,

Sorry, but my immediate reaction was "How much?!?!?!?" (Actually, it is also my enduring reaction!) wave

I'm sure that somewhere in the shed I must have a cork, or a lump of plastic, that can be shaped to bung into the hole and then drilled to take a bit of hose!

I will check it out tomorrow. allthumbz

Best regards,

Yerp, that was more or less how I looked at it. The more so as the OP in this thread showed a reasonably engineered bit of kit for a lot less money. Then again, someone had to think of it. Now that I've got that idea however..........The 'bung doesn't need to be a tight fit, it's the bayonet fitting that counts. I'm still surprised that Fiamma haven't knocked something out; marketed, the sales would be substantial amongst motorcaravanners 'wot don't have sheds'.

Oh, here's a link to the original item:

Errm, better make use of your gadgets, hose pipe ban coming very soon! Mind you filling on board tanks does not appear on the list of 11 'Must Not Do's'. Who will be the first to chance £1000 fine 'testing the water'? (No pun intended)

Mike

The thought had already crossed what's left of my mind. Not, I admit in the context of new toys, but across the whole area of fresh water tanks on caravans, motor caravans and boats - scratch head

I emailed Anglian Water the day the imminent ban was announced. No reply yet, of course.

Hi eggnog,
I'd be interested in the reply you get (if?) from Anglian Water, I was thinking on the same lines to Thames Water, but they are just as long winded with replies. (Except when it comes to billing of course!) We are now on a water meter, which I admit has reduced the bill by about half, so, although I will be charged per litre for the water I fill the tanks with, I would be fined for using a hose to do it - but not if I use a can. (???)

Whooooaaa there!!!

Get a grip lads! wave wave wave

My washing machine is connected to StrAnglian Water with A HOSE but I don't expect to be paying a fine for using it during a "hose-pipe ban"!! (If I do then they can book my cell in Lincoln Prison now because I definitely wouldn't pay it!)

Mind you, on the same subject, I actually use rainwater for the washing machine and toilet for 99% of the time. The tank, filters, pump, battery, charger and pipe work cost about £850. I fitted it two years ago and went on to a metered supply. It will have paid for itself by August this year.

I will be filling "Petal" with a six-foot hose from the tap next to the van (ban or not). During a "hose-pipe ban" there is no ban on filling containers using a hose; it is there to stop the prolific waste of water on gardens and the washing of cars, patios, driveways etc.

Personally, I think that EVERYONE should be on a meter. Paying for what you use would soon sort out the wasters. allthumbz allthumbz

Best regards,

drinksallround

A useful gadget Empty Hosepipe ban

Post by murph Thu Mar 15, 2012 2:15 am

Will we be in order to fill the van water tank with a hose, at the Peterborough show, or do we have to use a container, 14x5 litre containers full to fill our 70 litre tank. scratch head

As far as I know the law says that it is OK to fill a "container". wave wave

If the tank fitted to a motorhome isn't a "container" then they have to go back to the Oxford Dictionary!! allthumbz
