Warwick Racecourse CC site

We followed on to here after visiting the NEC show. Having tried to book on-line for two weeks before, checking each day because according to the on-line system the site was full, I phoned direct to the site and got a pitch on a non-awning hardstanding.
Arrived around 4.30pm (half-hour drive from NEC) to a warm reception from the lady warden. Given a map of the site layout marking which pitches were vacant and to drive round, pick a pitch and then return to reception to tell her which we had chosen and to get the code for the toilet block. We chose a secluded pitch in a small alcove of hedge and trees. Many of the pitches are on concrete and some are simply in a line against the racetrack railings. Toilets up to usual CC standard but the site itself feels just a bit run down, probably due to it being part of the racecourse.
What is good though is that the site is literally 4 minutes walk from the town so no need to move the motorhome to go into town. Nice town, not very big but you can get all you need. The castle looks very impressive and so was the entrance fee. I must warn that it is owned by the Alton Towers/Madame Tussauds group and to expect the price to be smilar - £30.50 per person!!! - we did not go in. Only 8 miles to Stratford, 3 miles to Leamington Spa, so plenty to see and do in the near vicinity. We were only stopping two nights so visited Stratford on our way to the next site.
TV reception was awful with no reception at all. O2 phone signal good but Vodafone (for internet dongle) non-existant.
Overall, good site in need of a bit of TLC.
