Bron Derw Caravan Park, Llanrwst, North Wales

Post by Paulmold on Mon Sep 03, 2012 5:44 pm

Just had a beautiful weekend ( the weather certainly helped) at this site. Situated in the town of Llanrwst which is about 4 miles from Betws-y-Coed and 12 miles from Conwy, this campsite comprises of 3 seperate sites in one. First there is the main site which has 20 individual pitches each with hook-up, aerial point, waste water drain and fresh water tap and all hard-standing. Immaculate toilet block with disabled suite and baby-changing facilities. Secondly there is the award-winning Caravan Club CL, with 5 seperate hard-standing pitches, hook-ups, aerial point, water tap and waste drain and brand new washroom, ladies and gents toilets and a wet-room shower (20p coin operated here). Thirdly there is the adult-only site (seperately named as Parc Derwen but under the Bron Derw site name) which has 24 individual hard-standing pitches with the same hook-ups, water tap, aerial and waste drain, immaculate toilet block, motorhome service point and even a seperate dog shower at the rear of the toilet block. Over half the pitches on the adult site were occupied by seasonal pitched caravans. We tried to book the CL but it was full so went on the adult-only site. Beautifully manicured grass between pitches and even your hook-up cable locates in channels with covers over so the cables aren't seen and the mower can go round without having to move the cables. The toilet blocks are cleaned after lunch (so you don't have to rush in the mornings when you are on holiday) and again about 11pm so always spotless. There is the usual dog run provided. The whole site is a credit to its owners, flowers and shrubs all around. It's a ten minute walk into the town with plenty of cafes, eateries, butchers, bakers (must be good as people were queueing out of the door) and a bus service to Betws-y-Coed in one direction and Llandudno in the other. This is one site we shall definitely revisit, one reason is that it is just over an hours drive for us but mainly because of the spotlessness of the whole site.

Thanks for that; I've added it to my "must visit" folder as a trip to Wales is long overdue for me.

Bron Derw has just won the Caravan Club CL of the year award. I knew it was good.

Hi Paul,

Lovely area. Lived and worked out of Llanrwst for 12 years in the 70/80s. I think the Campsite you were in, used to be called Kerry's Orchard, and was a nice place even then. Many happy days spent in this beautiful area. Great area if you are keen on Outdoor activities.

Andy smile! up!
