The Laurels between Boston and Skegness

Post by Dutto on Tue Aug 21, 2012 11:24 pm

Hi there,

Just been 'up the road' for two nights to try out the new Wind Blocker.

We were only the third visitors to this brand new CC CL at Benington on the A52 Boston to Skegness road; and we can thoroughly recommend it on many fronts.

1. Peace and quiet. On the outskirts of the village but (even for a doddery old man like me) within walking distance of a pub (Admiral Nelson) and a bus-stop (Mon-Sat hourly service to Boston or Skegness).

2. Great reception from the Owners.

3. Lots of things to do on a bike. We cycled into Boston (6 miles away) and then came back via the Frieston Shore Nature Reserve (4 miles away) and the Five Bells pub in Butterwick village (2 miles away) for a great round trip of about 15 miles. There are dozens of miles of flat "back-road" cycling available that can take you to a number of local villages; all with pubs and all serving real ales!!

4. Things to do without a bike. Apart from the Boston Stump and the town of Boston itself, the Aviation Heritage Museum (18 miles away) and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (22 miles away) are examples.

In synopsis, a superb little greenfield site with great security for £9 a night. Enjoy. allthumbz

Best regards,

I did a google search and found the following site

http://www.thelaurelsskegness.co.uk/touring.html

It appears a lovely site with EHU, water and a shower/WC (showers 50p) and accepts dogs- great find - thank you for sharing up!

At the moment the EHU is "work in progress" and we didn't ask about a shower or WC but it may be on the same "to do" list.

Don't let that put you off though it is still a great site for the Boston to Skegness area.
