Troutbeck Head Caravan Club Site near Penrith

We arrived at Troutbeck Head Caravan Club Site near Penrith Cumbria, set in classical north Lakeland countryside near Ullswater (4 miles away) which was accessible down a short drive – what a view on arriving. allthumbz

We drove up to reception, past the late night arrival areas and booked in. The warden went through the site facilities and then we went off to find our pitch. On the left side of the site are the service pitch areas. We weren’t impressed by these as they had no views uncertain , just as well as we hadn’t booked one of these - luckily. We went along the right side of the site and choose Pitch 130 which had glorious views of the hills to the front side and back - so tranquil, what more can I say, the views views and even more views. A true gem of a site. lets_dance

The site consists of a couple of different levels of pitches available and just over the back from our pitch on the next level down was a stream running by, the sound of running water helped with the tranquil setting.

Walking around the site there are 2 clean toilet blocks, both ladies and men’s blocks consisting of 4 showers, 4 toilets On_loo and 4 basins. There is always 1 block open whilst the other is being cleaned we haven’t seen this on other sites and its obviously good planning. There are 2 motor home service points, a games room which doubles as an information centre with a selection of leaflets, children’s play area and a dog walk doggy which also had great views. The site appeared to be kept tidy with freshly cut grass and weed management under control. The flower beds were full of shrubs and bedding plants. gardenb

Tv reception was digital and a good signal could be obtained using the booster system available. On a Thursday, Friday and Saturday a hot and cold food van visits the site for a couple of hours, handy if you don’t want to cook. But quiet pricy for what they are – 2 portions of chips costing £5.

The site is ideal for visiting Ullswater, Pooley Bridge, Glenriddings, Ambleside via Kirkstone pass, Penrith, Windermere infact any of the Lakes in the Lake District.

One of the best sites we have stayed at and if we are ever in this area again we would stay there again. all good
