Waveney River Centre

Post by deckie on Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:31 am

Waveney River Centre http://www.waveneyrivercentre.co.uk/ (With a Video clip !!)

We are staying here for three nights and are pleased to report (After CruizingComet's unfortunate visit, during extensive Ground Works) that it is up and running and well worth a visit !!

Located alongside the River with its own Marina and excellent, cared for facilities.

Large Reception area with a well stocked Shop, catering for the Boating, and Fishing fraternity as well as us “Vanners”.

Heated indoor Swimming-pool & Sauna (Extra Charges) with adjoining Café / TV lounge ….. Again all spotless

Good Children’s Play Area, with notices for QUIET after 9:00 PM hugegrins and NO Ball games near Vans Etc up!

Large, South facing, virtually level pitches … Separated by young hedges (David Bellamy’s Spec),

The whole site is very Ecologically Orientated .

All the Van Pitches have Electric Points and some of the “Kingfisher” plots, a Water-tap & Grey-water Drain.

The Pitches are on terraces ….

“Moorhen” being the lowest, followed by “Mallard” in the middle with “Kingfisher” & “Grebe” at the top (pic)

There is a small Ferry (£3 return) to pop you across the River for long nature rambles if so inclined.

Dish- washing room (Pic) …… Washing Machine & Clothes Dryer …… Also Boat & Canoe Hire.

The Toilet Blocks are “Spot on”, Plus there are 8 individual units (Pic) with Shower, WC & Hand-basin (Key-pad operated)

On the “Doorstep” …..

‘Beautifully Quirky’ “St Mary the Virgin” Thatched Church, ……“The Waveney Inn”, ….. and of course “The Broads”

The approach road is Single Track with Passing-places but as the River Centre is the end of the line, not a problem !!

Hope this has "Whetted your appetite" hugegrins …..

Enjoy Life Folks …..

Brian

PS …….. 3G+ on our Orange Dongle …….. Plot Grebe 3 ……. allthumbz

Hi Brian1
Not our scene, but obviously ideal for those who like all home comforts, and are prepared to pay for them.

Hi Brian,

I agree ..... a bit on the “pricey” side ……

We also often enjoy “Free” camping (All we could afford when the Kids were young) but I’m a “Sucker” for anything to do with Boating, so thought it worth “Splashing-out” …… (There I go again hugegrins another very bad Pun !!)

Great review Deckie up!

Glad you enjoyed your stay - we should be visiting again end of summer for our complimentary nights (after our last experience) as soon as we can get round to making arrangements - sounds like they have completed the work and the site is fully functioning. allthumbz

Was the marina visible from your pitch deckie? they were lowering the tent pitches when we were there so hopefully they don't block the view.. the individual toilet / showers are really good, it's a shame more sites don't follow this template, certainly makes the arduous daily visits to the toilet / showers more pleasant, only have to smell my own that way... hugegrins

Hi CC,

We were on pitch “Grebe 3” (Top left) and had a reasonable view of the Marina, across the Kids Playground, but the large “Boat repair shed” was certainly an obstruction !!

The “Kingfisher” pitches (especially the lower numbered ones) would give you the best “Overall” view up! but further to go for the “individual” Loo’s Whistle1

Enjoy your complimentary return trip allthumbz
