Really good layout in the Rienza, .....loved the big rear lounge.     I think they made them up to 2006.   Mine was 2005, with the Transit 135/3500 2.4 litre with six speed manual box.    Great long distance tourer, but equally at home just pottering about.    Good luck with your search.    Last I heard about mine, it was in Edinburgh area.   The owner was on this forum briefly at the time.

He He  not quite, layout will suit us better, I love the wood work in the Amethyst , the Rienza has the same, but none for sale. That would be the one if I could find one, as we are getting older, time and health is not on our side.

Agree with you, Daisy Mae....... a friend had a Rienza Transit auto...... it's not like an auto as we would know it in a car (Merc; BMW) but more an automatic clutch....    drove his once and it's a PITA.    Go for a manual .    It's a pretty slick change even with the long lever.
Good wishes with your search  up!

Glad you found a Hampshire. I assume that it is Transit based, Mk7 at that age. It will feel different to drive being fully drive by wire also a little better on fuel than the Mk6.
It would be interesting to see how much difference there is between the Rienza and the Hampshire. We certainly like ours for lots of reasons more so now we are heading to both us be fully retired next year.
Perhaps us Ford based users should have our own slot on the Forum or Transit gatherings.

Thanks Dave, only a week on Tuesday to go before she is collected.

I am showing my ignorance here, what is /it mean by drive by wire?

From photos I have seen on line I don`t think there is any difference in the layout, apart from the electronic beds in the Hampshire, not the reason for buying her just that couldn`t find a Rienza which has the Italian wood work which I really like, have it in the Amethyst.

Good idea re Ford slot or Transit gatherings. smile! don`t know how well that will go down with the other Marques

Morning Margret, The Fly By Wire simply means the fuel system is fully electric controlled. In simple terms in  gives better throttle response, better fuel economy and better emissions. All clever stuff to meet the emissions requirements.  I found the Mk7,s were smoother to drive and seemed to need less right foot to keep to higher speeds on motorways.
We looked at other makes of motorhomes based on the Transit but nothing seemed as well built as the Autosleepers or they were the continental lounge layout.
We were worried that we did not see many Transit based Autosleepers  on the road during our travels. The most common we see are Mk5 Transit  Duetto. In Norfolk we were next to a Mk5 Duetto and there was one on the same site as us last week two pitches down. Sadly they were both rotten in the same places as ours was. The site knew when it left in the morning by the blue haze left over the pitch. A good old Mk5 that will rattle on until its fails on emissions or body rot.  so_sad

Morning Dave,

Thank you, very informative, did notice on the test drive how quiet it was just shows learn something new every day. all good .

Shame about the mark 5`s seems a popular model.

I see you are not that far from us, were at your neck of the woods 3 weeks ago to collect our new dog from a foster carer, Spaniel Aid .

What I have done is to buy a Ford mark6 seat back, arm rests the same, just for the arm rest, as I like two armrests on the passenger seat, especially when it swivels round to use as an arm chair. I do like my comfort. :smile!:I have someone to take off the bracket from donor seat , weld it onto the Hampshire and replace armrest. I know it will be a different colour. but that is in hand.I had that done on the Amethyst. same guy did it for me, works a treat.

Regards,
Margaret

I do miss the second arm rest as we had two on the Duetto. .They were based on the Transit Turano .I think it was a posh model of the Mk5 Mini Bus. Heated front seats , two arm rests , a radio amplifier and alloy wheels.
I was told they only fit one arm rest for safety reasons. The outer arm rest could restrict you exiting the vehicle in an emergency. I am toying with making a pad for the door to rest my arm on during long runs.
I think youre right about our own group on the Forum, some of the other marque owners might get a bit put out.
Any thoughts of a meet up, dependant of our travels, just PM me .

Can not see it myself on safety reasons, more like a cost cutting exercise.

Why not get an armrest and have it  transferred to your van, easy to do, then when it is swiveled you have an arm chair, not altering the drivers seat as that one doesn`t swivel any way.

Dave would be good to meet up, will let you know when and where we are likely to be. Wil PM you.

Thinking of going to the Bubble Car museum Lincs. , you probably know it. Until we have the van and will need to use as much as possible while it is in warranty.it is up in the air at the moment.

Margaret
