Sorry to hear that Paul.
Although his posts on here were sometimes a little confrontational, I personally gained a lot of knowledge from them regarding batteries and charging systems.

Thank you, Paul, for spotting that sad announcement and for sharing it with us on the Forum.

Allan's technical contributions to Forum threads were usually comprehensive and often thought-provoking, and sometimes led to heated debates. He was generous in sharing his experience.

To learn of the death of a Forum Member leaving a young family in the week when my wife and I celebrate our golden wedding has brought it home to me how fortunate I am.

As above.

He tended to be needlessly aggressive at times, but who knows to what extent his illness was largely the cause. I'm evil tempered with a slight head cold, so I can't imagine what it was like for him.

Thoughts are with the family and friends.

That is sad to hear. Both on here and Out and About (maybe other forums too) he was a mind of electrical information for those of us who find it all a mystery.

Well said Cymro, just a pity some members could not show some restraint in their replies at the time . He give his information freely , especially as he was terminal at the time. I saw aggression only from the replies to his posts . Perhaps  time to sober up und show some respect and restraint in future. A tragic loss to his family and a sad loss of excellent practical experience on the forum.

Post by Bad Penny on Wed Aug 14, 2019 4:57 pm

I have just been reading on another forum of the death of Allan Evans of North Wales. He had suffered from cancer for some time and sadly passed away on the 11th of August. As many of you know, he had imparted a lot of his knowledge on this forum.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family.

Leighton.

I had great respect for his knowledge and, being somewhat intolerant myself, understood much of the strength of some of his contributions. Condolences.

I’m very saddened, I did think of him from time to time and did wonder if his illness had taken him.
A very knowledgeable man, he will be missed.
Personally I never saw any aggression in his replies, to me he was a gent.

Sadly Allan Evans died on 11th August. here as AllaFEvans

https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Allan-Evans-aandncaravanservices-co-uk-/52828/

I never came across such a knowledgeabe gentleman who was prepared to share his vast knowledge freely. He had a very calm and decent manner even when the point he was making was questioned by people with less knowledge of the subject. He was always prepared to help anyone with anything he knew about and for my van, it would be nowhere near as well set up if it was'nt for all his generous assistance.

I will miss you Allan, rest in peace, and, very best wishes to his family Natalie, Adam and Sophie.

Sadly Allan Evans has Died Empty The Late Allan Evans

Post by biffobear on Fri Aug 23, 2019 10:02 am

My deepest sympathy and thoughts go to Alan's family.  Especially his Wife and two young children. He will be missed by me and many more I'm sure.
He gave his time freely to help us, the motorhome consumers and when questioned gave sound and solid facts in a polite and calm manner without being arrogant, derogatory, sarcastic or rude, It was the arrogance and general attitude in which other members on this forum challenged Allans proven facts and advice and even now on other posts currently running, they  still feel the need to put the boot in after the man has passed on which, considering their history is not surprising, and guess what, They are still WRONG. One for you Allan. It is the same members and admin who repeat this sort of behaviour and attitude to other members posts time and time again and they are not only on this forum.  Rest in peace Allan.

Only just seen this... Sad to hear.

I know there was sadly much "Unnecessary" controversy & challenging on here in response to his knowledge, even his ill health being questioned! How this forum has changed since the good old early days when this was a friendly & tolerant forum.

In all fairness as Paul has pointed out, this is the third thread regarding the late Allan Evans. It seems pointless that members should repeat themselves on them all.

I wasn't aware of that Al as I never clicked on the links Paul provided, was just saddened to hear the news. Will attempt to merge the posts all together in one thread in a moment.

He was obviously a fighter as I seem to recall he didn't think he would make it past Christmas last year. if I learnt one thing from him it was to stay away from the frequently recommended & highly regarded Banner batteries due to their heavy gassing. Our next leisure battery will be lithium.
