New van Nutter or what

Post by Heanorboy on Tue Oct 23, 2018 11:23 am

Is everybody a nutter like me.
Spend well over my "budget" for the new van and now spending time well not exactly finding faults but looking to improve.
So I bought up to yet
New retaining catches for the rear doors
Draining board as there wasn't one
USB multi point
Bonnet trim protector
Wind deflectors
Grab handle for sliding door
Fire extinguisher
Blind spot mini mirrors
Dash Discs for the Sat Nav
Submersible water pump for filling from a water carrier
Wireless in car phone charger
Mud flaps
Seat Covers
Storage bags for under the seats

Plus loads of other bits and pieces like adding addition 12v and USB points in the van, moving the internal mirror as it was too low, making a cutlery tray, making racks and cup holders for the overhead lockers.

Not spend a vast amount until today when I bought a set of bright shiny brand spanking new Alloy Wheels
Nutter or what

Consider the C&MC Tewkesbury site for a night or two.

Short walk into town where you can explore the dozens of alleys. The Abbey is worth a visit, if only to see the ancient central heating stoves.

Doubt you'll get on Tewkesbury, it's half term.
But I agree it's a great location.

Could I ask why blind spot mini mirrors?
As far as I can tell there are no blind spots with standard van split mirrors.

On the Renault the mirrors are different
1. the bottom mirror is fixed and aimed at the rear wheel/bumper for me
2. the main big mirror is single glass with NO split and I found that when a car was almost level with me on the motorway it disappear out of the mirror, so for a couple of quid thought I would give them a try.

Ah, I see. I was under the impression all van mirrors were similar, all four remote adjustment from a joystick. When you mentioned the blind spot mini mirrors I sat in my van and wondered where the blind spot was..

No not a nutter at all! You can't put a price on pleasure and art the end of the day the REAL cost is in the depreciation not what you paid for the van.

I test drove a new car yesterday then checked its used value on line and found year old ones with under 5000 miles at £12k less! I also looked at another make which was 50% more to buy but the depreciation far lower. The salesman didn't get it, or didn't want to. scratch head

Those blind spot mirrors or even better the indicators are great as far as I am concerned.

BUMMER
Very Bright silver blingy alloys arrive yesterday only problem being I ordered Gunmetal ones so they have got to do a swop out when we get back in 2 weeks.

Never mind, I take it that the furry dice and ' my other van was a Tribby' sunstrip arrived ok then?   hugegrins  our boxer had perfectly good blind spot mirrors , electrically adjusted from the cab.....unfortunately A/s  fitted the front cab blind cassettes which completely obscure the view from the lower blind spot mirrors! The blinds work perfectly well on site but you are missing vital vision of vehicles sneaking up alongside when driving.

Yep, removed the Remis cassette blinds from our cab side windows tor that very reason. Visibility has now improved dramatically and my feeling is that the cassettes caused a danger.

It’s a simple job which only takes a few minutes to remove the cassettes and replace them with standard Pug window trims.

We now black out the cab side windows at night with cheap internal silver screen pads which fix easily on rubber suckers.

Shakedown trip 90% OK
10% was a tap failure in the "bathroom" but we were not to far from Nick Whale who are agents for both A/S and Wildax who replaced under guarantee. Have seen some reports people not happy with NW but they did a good job for me, comfi waiting room and good coffee.
