Internal Lights - Free for collection

Post by IvorC on Wed Aug 29, 2018 5:16 pm

I have just changed the four internal light fittings in my AS Executive for LED versions so these are going spare and creating clutter. They are the 2 x 8watt tube versions and there are a load of spare tubes.
They are free to the first person to collect (although a small donation to our local food bank would be appreciated).
Anyone want them - I live in Oswestry, Shropshire.

That's very generous of you, hope someone can collect them.

But could you tell me about the LED replacement. Sorry if you you've already posted. Couldn't find it with search.

You could try putting "lumo ellipse LED" into your favourite search tool, maybe? Cheapest seem to be around £45.

The original fluorescents are very easy to convert to LED, though - and the ones on offer still have good chrome on them. One downside to the older ones though is that the covers are very opaque (perhaps they get more so with age?) so you need maybe 10W of LEDs to get decent output.

IIRC the cost of parts for the last one I converted was about £8 - but that included a 12V regulator which you probably don't really need.

At £16.99 x 2 per unit it is cheaper to buy replacement units  and they are very easy to fit.

Thanks for the info. Might try replacing the two most used lights. I've already replaced the halogen reading bulbs with LEDs
