2018 ASOC Newark AGM

Just read the electronic copy of the ASOC mag and wondered what other ASOC members thought about the sharing of the site with the same youth group as last year, all be it with actions in place to reduce/eliminate last year's 'problems'?

We're still planning to attend as we didn't find the problem was too bad - and we were pitched alongside them. Confident that the show ground will be proactive. As the article says, it is still the best venue available and as we can't afford the whole site we have to share with somebody.

I guess if we are sharing it keeps the cost of the event down a bit.I can’t say the noise bothered me once I hit the sack but that is normal for me nowadays in the van am asleep before you count to 10

To get into the annual calendar of a site that can accommodate the number of vans and has available the other accommodation and catering facilities we require at one of the few venues in England, Scotland and Wales that can offer them, is a case of waiting for another event to drop off that calendar. Because of this it is not an option to move the year after you experience a problem.

Having had the experience of trying to find a similar venue for another caravanning organisation, I know that ASOC get an exceptional deal from Newark and I also know how committed the Newark showground management are to retaining ASOC's business.

I accept the assurances given by the Showground and the managers of the other organisation that this years problems will not be allowed to be repeated in 2018 and that anything else that occurs will be 'nipped in the bud'.

It was really the early /morning band rump sessions that bothered us, the sports were Interesting to watch. Mind you we were almost at the far end of the row closest to the venue with no sound barrier between us and the music! Still you take the site you are shown to, perhaps next year we will be in a different position
