Campsite nr Salford, Manchester

Post by Ivory55 on Sat Feb 18, 2012 7:35 pm

Hi, we are off to see our son for his birthday in early March. Has anybody used any campsites within a 20 mile radius (the closer the better) they could recommend please?

Many thanks,
CB and Mrs.

The nearest is Holly Bank near Warburton Bridge. Leave the M6 at Jct 21 go over the motorway bridge towards Manchester. At the traffic lights turn right the site is immediately on your left.
To get to Salford, back to the traffic lights turn right and straight on until you come into Salford, you pass through Cadishead, Irlam and then you are in Salford distance about 5/6miles - then it depends on where you are going.
You may get other suggestions which may well be better sites (ie: CC Burrs Park - Bury) but you will need to travel further. Holly Bank is a straight run and also on the bus route if that takes your fancy

Hi Roli
Many thanks for your advice. Unfortunately Burrs Park is fully booked for all weekends in March. We just wondered if you have stayed at Holly Bank as online review given in 2009 does not sound too good? but a lot could have changed since then.
Thanks CB

We did stay years ago before we moved back to the area. As it was only a weekend we didn't spend much time on the site and just wanted somewhere convenient to park up. It is very convenient though.
A chap I know Ron Ferguson has a CL at Risley - Yew Tree Farm, that is also easy to get to Salford (abt 10m) from never stayed on there though. I

Yup, you've hit the nail right on the head there. We've got to think of it as a convenient place to park for a couple of nights - it's not our annual holiday!

Thanks again Roli up!

Hi Ivory
I have just looked at the campsite search on UKCS (ukcampsite.co.uk) and they have 9 reviews but the newest is the most interesting.
The Webmaster has posted - They have a new management with new roads, new toilet facilities, wifi and New convenience store.

Could be worth checking out as it is revamped.

Hope this helps.

Hi Campievanner

Thank you very much for this information. We never did get to Manchester in March as our son came to Norfolk instead but we will certainly be going there sometime this year and will report back our views on the site allthumbz
