Awning on Broadway

Nearly every time it is used I have to jiggle around for ages before the winder withdraws from the awning. Then it eventually slips out ok? I have examined it closely and can see no apparant reason for this. Also we have to physically push the awning upwards into the recess for the last half inch as it seems to have dropped. Does anyone else have these problems ? Any suggestions ? It is a 3m awning on a 2012 Broadway. I am reluctant to travel 50 miles to Marquis if it is a simple adjustment.

Don't worry about the winder. I had the same problem on our previous van, on a van which wasn't ours and on our present van.

Sometimes the winder comes out first go and sometimes it takes a bit of jiggling about. Have never worked out how to do it first time every time.

Don't know about having to push the awning up though.

It's a common experience more so perhaps by how one applies the correct angle of the winder handle. There is instruction on the handle by means of an illustration that requires to push further into the slot and twist either left or right to disengage. Of course it never always works and we have witnessed several occasions where people have left it dangling. See also post Gloucester wind out awning dated 22nd June with regard to recess problem.

Mine the same won't come out then all of a sudden its out.

Glad to hear its not just me who has the love/hate relationship with the awning winder

A wee dod of Vaseline allied over the end of the winder, or rub some candle wax over the end, just to provide some lubrication .
Also make sure you have the angle correct.

Same problem ,shame because we could really use it more often,
Really embarrassing when you think people are watching you.

To disengage ensure handle is not at too steep an angle i.e. Have it fully extended and held quite high, then wind clockwise push in slightly then wind slightly anti-clockwise and withdraw at same time.
Once you done it a few times it is easy but I agree it takes practise.
Re adjustment. Each end of awning has a sprung captive latch. The idea is that when you wind in the awning both latches engage with the frontplate hooks at the same time. Unless they are broken one latch must engage when you wind in the awning. If the problem is that the other one does not engage then you need to effectively shorten the awning material on the defective end. This is done by attaching a strip of material to the underside of the fully extended awning material up at the top by the roller at the defective end. When you then wind in the awning your additional strip of material effectively increases the diameter of the roller at that end which winds it in a bit quicker.
Trial and error with the length of your additional strip will allow you to get both ends of the awning frontplate to engage with the latch simultaneously. 
Note You should never drive without both latches engaged otherwise the awning could unwind itself as you travel.
