Owners Manual

Post by Ogrid on Fri Aug 18, 2017 9:10 am

Good morning Guys,

I'm the (proud) owner of an old Renault Trafic Recro as a doer-upper. Its in relativly good shape for an OAP but i'm having problems with some of the fixtures and fittings, especially the electrics. It has the Zig MC3000 control panel fitted that unfortunately has no fuses fitted. I know they are 32x6 glass fuses (hard to get hold of now) but since there is no manual or guide on the back of the fuse door i'm at a loss as to the values of the fuse for each one and what they are for.

I have searched the internet for the last few days and cant seem to find any information regarding this panel at all. Does anyone have a Zig manual/user guide that they can look these up for me? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Oggy.

This question has been asked before:

Glass fuses hard to find? I've never had any problems.

One of the issues you face is that the Zig unit was designed as a general-purpose control unit. So there is no "correct" value for each fuse, because it depends on how A/S wired their equipment to it, and exactly what that equipment is - and unfortunately A/S changed all that on a frequent basis.

The other issue that I hate to mention is the likelihood that - unless you know differently - the fuses were removed by a previous owner due to electrical problems that they could not resolve. If that's suspected, I would start by checking very carefully at the rear of the Zig unit for chafed and/or loose wires before installing any fuses.

Thanks Mojo

I was tryung to avoid the removal of the panel as one of the previous owners has boxed the back of the panel in by adding a 'secure' hiding place in the rear cupboard where the wiring is located. This will mean a bit of deconstruction of quite a lot of nicely done carpentry censored!.

Oh well, tools out at the wekkend then.

Cheers

Thanks for the response Boxerman,

I have looked at every one of the manuals on the link that is provided in the '1993 frisky' discussion over the last few days. Unfortunately not one has the values or even a picture. I will go with Mojo's suggestion and remove the panel to see whats cooking behind. I'm not adverse to getting down and dirty with the old volt meter.

I've put a couple of feelers out but don't know if or when I'll get any replies.
I'll let you know of any responses
