We're looking to buy a 1992 Vdub clubman with a 2l petrol engine having travelled 78000 thousand miles apparently in very good condition, are they're any points to look out for and what would be a fair price? I believe trade would probably be somewhere in the region of £5000 thanks

I don't think so. If it's in good condition there is no way that anyone would sell you one for £5k.Petrol engined vans are also getting to be more desirable because of LEZ and similar. I doubt you would find one in genuinely good nick for less than double that, even at 25 years old!

Mojo is spot on there, unless you are very lucky. A bereavement sale may be more favourably priced??

There was a 1994 model for sale near us last year and they wanted £11,999 for it. (Why do people do that?? Is one miserable quid less than £12,000 going to make or break a sale??  shrugg scratch head)

Don't know if they got the asking price but it disappeared fairly quickly. I think a lot of people like them because of the far superior build quality back then, and the nostalgia value.

That odd quid (or even a penny!) is a pet hate of mine as well.
Mind you, if you have a huge pile of spare cash there's a Ferrari 458 for sale on ebay at the moment for £599,995.00. That's a whole fiver change from 600K...
That's bound to help seal a deal..
